Xbox one x scorpio edition dead after 20 mins of play

well recieved my xbox one x scorpio edition today and after 20 mins of play its died, the screen started to flicker black and now nothing, it powers on and no display, i have tried 3 different hdmi cables and changed to every hdmi port on my 4k tv, my guess
is a fried graphics unit, as i have had the same issue with a macbook pro a few years back, id say avoid the one x like the plague and buy a gaming pc, just wondering if anyone has had this same issue? Im going to get a refund unfortunately and wait untill
things get sorted

Hi there,

Purchasing any electronic item on Day One runs the same risk, this is not unique to the Xbox One X release - Prices drop after release, there are limited time specials offered, or a newer model comes out down the road.

Same goes for automobiles.

The Scorpio edition is a limited edition console. No more will be made of that edition. Any user If you want an Xbox One X with PUBG, it won't say Project Scorpio on it.

Any user currently looking for a Project Scorpio edition console one month after release will most likely be paying a higher price for it than what it originally sold for.

I have a similar problem: my Xbox One X after starting Forza 7 the first time switched off. After powering on it switches off after about 3 seconds. So no usual hard boot is possible. I disconnected everything, held the power button
for >10 seconds - no change. Any idea?

Note: my old Xbox One was in the insider preview ring, I exported the setup today to an external HDD and imported this during the initial setup of the X simply having attached the HDD and answering to use the existing setup.

 

Same story here. Setup fine from my had from Xbox one s , then updated itself fine , 4 laps of Forza 7 and it froze - now just the Xbox light comes on with no display. SwPped cables , swapped TV , nothing works. 4 laps. 4 laps.

 

Does your X also remain powered on (Xbox logo lighting) only for a few seconds? It beeps on start and then when shutting down, after very few seconds.

It powers on , logo stays lit , will accept discs and eject them fine, just no display. Tried holding the power and eject buttons to try safe mode - but that won’t work either. I have given up now and will contact Microsoft support in the morning.

 

FYI posting info like hardware serial numbers on the forums it generally not a good idea. I'll flag it for Mod editing if you can't edit soon enough. If a Microsoft employee asks you for that info, you can reach them via Xbox Chat clicking the "message"
button under their post.

 

I have the same issue, first boot of Xbox one X, start the update, freezed at 1% of download!!!, it never booted up again.

its such a shame that this has happened to more people, i really do wish there was a work around but to me its bad hardware somewhere not software related as my xbox was really hot when i got the black screen, i would think overheated and fried the graphics
unit, i know this sounds like a bad thing but this is it for me and console gaming, i have a high end gaming pc to play so im going to stick with that from now on, I honestly thought the xbox one x would have been a good idea to just chill out and play in
4k without been on my pc rig, but what can you really expect with them putting all that "power" in a small console, a little rant from me there but this isn't a good start for the one x, im pretty sure there will be more cases of this around Christmas time,
im sure there will be people who have bought these for a gift for someone, so all i can suggest is that if you have bought one as a gift get it plugged in and tested playing a game to see if you get this problem

 

Mine died yesterday after 3h of usage. While I was playing Assassins Creed the console turned off. Tried to restart it but the X just turns on for a second and you can hear the Start sound and the xbox will turn off immediately.

I disconnected all cables, tried a different wall outlet and did some power cycles but this morning the xbox still does the same: NOTHING

I am having the same problem. When trying to play forza 7 i only get to the menus then the fans are at maximum speed before the console turns off, same with halo 5. The xbox are now back in the package and will be returned today!
