    Xbox One X says TV doesn’t support 4K HDR


    Hi, so I have an LG 43UH6100 4K television. I checked the specs for my TV before buying the One X and im positive that it supports 4K HDR. But, when I go to advanced display settings it says that my TV supports 4k 60hz at the very top but below that for
    movies/tv and playing games it says my tv doesn’t support 4k 60hz OR HDR. How do i fix this?? I bought the Xbox One X to utilize my TV and its saying i can’t even play games with 4K hdr?? Any help is appreciated.

    Hello Snake,

    Thanks for bringing the question to us. There are a few things that could cause this. First being the TV is not one of the recommended HDR for 4k that the Xbox support. For example if the TV is not HDR it will only support certain aspects of 4k. To check
    on 4K and compatibility I will provide you with a few links to look over and troubleshoot the 4K.

    I had this very same problem with my Sony TV, and others have founds similar issues as well. However the following link doe shave all the steps you need to follow and LG is listed in the article with all necessary steps

    Are you using a reciever with hdmi bypass. If yes, is the receiver compatible hdcp2.2. Are you using hdmi 2.0 cables? If yes, too both check reciever settings. I had to enable a special setting on my Yamaha receiver get Hdr to work.

    Otherwise, sometime the TV's are not setup out of the box to support Hdr. You might have to enable settings inside the TV menus. Try to google "enable Hdr (TV model).

    make sure you are plugged into the right HDMI sport. TVs usually only have one or two HDMI2.1/HDCP2.2 compliant ports. Also might have to go into your tv settings and enable “HDR” or “Deep Color” or sometimes goto the input settings and enable “Enhanced
    HDMI format”

    My TV has without any doubt the 4K, it's said on the TV manual and on the xbox one x options

    Instead for the HDR it's said on the TV manual and on the tv option that I have HDR (I even have the option turned on on the TV), but I don't know why my xbox one x says that my TV doesn't support it

    There's no official support documentation specifically about the Xbox One X yet.

    However, I'd imagine it will at least have the same support for 4K+HDR carried over from the Xbox One S, the specifications and troubleshooting of which can be found below.

    Not all TV's support HDR on all HDMI connections.

    On my Sony Bravia 4K TV, only two out of the four support HDR even though they all support 4K resolution.

    This could very well be the issue,

    I have a Samsung 4K HDR TV, with 4 HDMI 2.0 ports, but only one of my port's supports HDR, ( HDMI 1 ),

    If i want to use to my PS4pro with HDR, i have it in HDMI 1, but then if i want to use my Xbox One X with HDR, i have to swap my HDMI cable's around, so that my Xbox One X is now in HDMI 1,

    Best check the TV's manual to find out which HDMI port uses HDR,

    Or try connect the Xbox One X into the HDMI port where you're PS4pro is, and see if HDR then works.

    The Xbox one S does have ‘upscaled’ 4k, so it does support it to a certain extent.

    HDR (high dynamic range) is also supported on this console, so this is why you see these options.

    If it wasn’t supported, these options wouldn’t show and if you didn’t have a 4k capable TV it would just say “your TV doesn’t support 4k/HDR” and you wouldn’t be able to apply this setting.

    I hope this explains it! On a side note, are you still experiencing this issue even with all the relevant display settings applied?
