Xbox one X rattling/whirring noise?

Well it's certainly quieter than my base PS4, my computer or my fridge, but the Xbox One X I got yesterday is making this rattling sound right out of the box. It's not that loud but I can hear it 3 meters away from the console where I sit. Not so much when
I'm playing (my TV is closer than the console), but sort of in the background when watching Netflix or youtube.

I quess my main problem is that I don't know if this is normal or something of a defect. Has not affected performance as far as I can tell. I'm now thinking that I will either take it back to the store and wait for the PS4 Pro+RDR2 bundle (of course, there's
no quarantee it won't have the same noise or be louder) or I'm just going to keep for now and maybe with time get used to it. I don't wanna take it to my retailer for maintenance because it take 2-3 weeks and if nothing is actually wrong with it, they will
bill me.

That is how my Xbox One X sounds. Is it normal?

I had faced with rattling/clicking sound coming from my brand new Xbox One X. Sound appeared only in highload games after the scene was loaded, for e.g. in "Witcher 3: Wild hunt".

I'd replaced console for 4 times, and it seems that finally I had received the normal one. But it still makes strange rattling/clicking sounds, now it seems to be much more quiet, and rattling had became much more normal.

I'm still afraid that console my be broken after warranty ends, due to bad bearing or something that makes these rattling sounds. I mean that the current console sounds much better, but not like other fans I had heard (e.g. in my notebook/PC, which sounds
like just blowing air, without any rattling).

Would you be so kind to check whether the sound is OK? Should I not worry any more about it?

At least for my own Xbox One X, it should make a continuous "whoosh" noise when the fan spins up. Depending on the game, it can be relatively quiet, or jumping up and down in speed, or remain somewhat high.

I saw your video, but I didn't hear any rattling in particular. Do you hear the same noise when the Xbox is placed on different surfaces? I'm wondering if the rattling you hear might be coming from other loose things sitting on your desk?

 

In my opinion it's not normal to hear this kind of noise. It seems as if the cooling fan touches something.

Agreed. A rattling sound is not normal. I would for sure exchange it for another one.
