Xbox One X (Project Scorpio) - Keeps Crashing To Dashboard, External HDD only works on front ...

Hi all, after a long wait in today for my Project Scorpio Edition of the new console, I have been unable to play the games for any longer than a couple of minutes.

The games I have been trying are all disc based games.

Everytime I start playing it just crashes back to the main screen.

This has happened with multiple games I have tried, both multiplayer online modes and single player story/ campaign modes.

When it crashes back to Dashboard, it also gives a notification for my External HDD which is what happens when I first turn the console on.

This to me shows the console is restarting/ crashing and not just the game.

The External HDD is only picking up when using the front USB port, neither of the rear 2 ports work.

Also the console feels hot after just 5 minutes f use.

Has anyone else experienced this problem or am I the only person to pay £450 for a day of pure disappointment?

external usb hard drive question

It doesn't recognise the External HDDs full capacity though, does it, c0deater..?? The Xbox 360, will only recognise "One" 16GB partition on any external HDD..

It is only 16GB, as the UEFI System Kernel, is not designed, for a USB Drive to handle any more than 16GB without the dashboard crashing..

Sorry you're having issues with your X. If you plug a thumb drive with some pictures on it, or something like that in the back does it pick up? Can you tell if the back ports are giving power? If the answer is no, I would suggest trying to unplug the console,
wait a couple minutes, and plug it back in. Make sure that it's plugged directly into the wall, and not a power strip or surge protector.

The comments/ replies I am reading are asking how it is plugged in etc.

Are they just clutching at straws trying to mute the complaints or could this genuinely be a problem?

My whole TV set up is plugged in to a 4 bank extension with power surge protection (this is because the plug sockets are no where near where I have placed my unit etc.

Also the rear USB ports are giving power as my External HDD does light up when plugged in, and I use a lead to power my controller instead of eating batteries, this does work, just the HDD isn’t recognised when using the rear ports

Hopefully this can be an easy fix otherwise after spending such a large amount and now the current stock shortages
