Xbox One X Problems with 4k Projectors

I got a new 4k projector and a new "expensive" HDMI cable to support 4k, when I got my new Xbox One X I was so excited to see all the new 4k goodness however my joy turned to dread when I selected 4k in the setting only to have the screen go black and the
projector tell me that it was not getting any signal. First I called Microsoft 1-800-4-MyXbox, they told me that it was a problem with my projector. Next, I called the company that made my projector, they quickly pointed the blame to the HDMI cable, it does
not support 4k at 60hz they said. So I ordered a new HDMI cable, the first one was HDMI 2.0 so after looking online I had seen that they had HDMI cables that were 2.0a that also claimed they were able to handle 4k at 60hz, when I got the new cable the same
thing, black screen no signal. At this point I was getting very frustrated, but tried yet another cable this time more expensive and HDMI 2.0b again it saying that it would support 4k at 60hz, got it and again same thing, black screen and no signal. Ok now
I was mad, got on the phone and called Monoprice.com to see if they could recommend a HDMI cable that would work with 4k at 60hz, now paying a lot more money just for a HDMI cable, but even with this cable twice as think as the previous cables I had gotten
it would not work, just a black screen with no signal. Furious at this point I decided to try something a little scary, I memorised the video setting layout so in case it would not work I could go back to 1080p, then selected 4k and listened for my option
to keep it at 4k, after a short time of black screen I finally had 4k at 60hz. Microsoft has to fix the video setting to allow time for the projector to find the 4k signal, had they done this for me it would not have wasted much of my time and money with HDMI
cables, that everyone is using as a scapegoat when you call support.

    :)

    4K Passthrough?

I saw it has HDMI 2.0B thingy on this site.

If say you connect an Xbox One X to your 4K HDTV, you should still be able to:

    1. Download the YouTube and Netflix apps, onto your Xbox One X, and still be able to watch in 4k 60fps?

    2. Use Xbox One X 4k Blu-ray player to watch 4k Blu-ray disc movies in 4k 60fps?

    3. Play games on Xbox One X, in 4k 60fps?

    .... right?

Netflix Not Outputting Dolby Atmos On Xbox One

I have the same problem on Xbox X and XBox One. I’m using the Denon AVR-X 2700H 7.2 channel Dolby Atmos receiver with the XBox X, and the Yamaha RXV-6A 7.2 channel Dolby Atmos receiver with the Xbox One. Both receivers were working normally outputting Atmos on Netflix until November 2022. Disney+ and Amazon Prime play Atmos content on both devices without issue, hence indicating that the problem is not with the 4K TV and 4K projector, nor receivers.

Xbox One X Problems with 4k Projectors

    Hi Jesse,

I have managed to connect the XBox to connect to the projector via the AV amp, in 4k HDR 10 bit color at 60HZ. Within the 'Video fidelity & overscan' setting I changed the selection from 'HDMI' to 'Auto-detect'.

Xbox One X Problems with 4k Projectors

Given that that’s a $9000 projector, I doubt that they even know about the problem. Your best bet would be to submit an official support ticket through support.xbox.com

HDMI sync timings are not usually something That is end-user accessible on a game consul. Have you tried running it through a receiver? The receiver would have time to sync with it, or at least a team far more familiar with your issue,

If you do have the HDMI switching receiver, let the Xbox fully boot (wait 30sec), and then turn on the projector

    Best of luck
Hi SwordofWhedon, Thanks for your reply. I will do as you suggest. Cheers :)

Hi Jesse, Thanks for the feedback. Disappointing, but hopefully enough people raising the problem will spur Microsoft into fixing it. Cheers, Nick
