Xbox One X -- Power Supply Issues?

Hey guys first off -- thanks for all time & help with the question.

I got a new Xbox One X in plans for it to replace my PS4 Pro. I definitely have had more experience with Sony consoles and that's actually what leads me to the question.

The PS4 & honestly many similar devices, from my experience have been horrifically bad at powering down. Both the original PS4 and the PS4 even if you properly follow "Shut Down" give it a good couple minutes then unplug the power cable. Odds are high the
next time you turn it on, you're going to get an "improperly shut down message".

After Google'n I realized it's because they don't seem to discharge all their internal power. So when I unplug it actually I can still press power and the console turns on for just a second or two before power down. This it seems
from what I've read to be the culprit but I can't be sure. Nonetheless I ask because I move around a lot and would love to be able to take my console with me but am concerned over these issues that seem to haunt all devices alike. I'm crossing my fingers nobody
has had any issue in this regard with the Xbox One X because it would be a breath of fresh air. I know also another concern is switching between HDR/4k compatible TVs. What exactly is the protocol the system has in place to detect and then "save" the settings
    for the TV's?

If this is all something that is likely to present cumbersome technical issues -- I'll just not move the console and keep it plugged in.

Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated!

    :)

    Xbox with 220V DC

    Hi

The Xbox One S and Xbox One X both support 110v AC and 220v AC as for the original Xbox One with the separate power supply you will need to purchase a replacement power supply. To order a replacement power supply please use the link below and you should
be able to purchase the correct power supply.

    Hi

If it is the original Xbox One with the separate power supply (brick) then you will need to purchase a new power supply, If you own an Xbox One S or Xbox One X then you will just need to purchase a new power cable.

  4. Xbox One X -- Power Supply Issues?

While I don't have an X yet, I can speak from my own experience from every Xbox console prior to it. I've never had an issue with powering down any of my consoles and having an "improperly shut down" message upon powering them back up. Not one that I can
    recall.

I do know that with the different power features that Xbox One consoles have (instant on vs energy saving) I'd feel better using the energy saving setting if I were going to be unplugging it often, but that's just me. You do have the ability to enter the
settings, go to Power and Startup menu and choose "Full Shutdown" even if you do use the Instant On feature, which should curb any potential issues of not shutting down properly if they did arise.

Honestly, from my experience, if you decide to move your console and need to unplug it, just do as most support pages will likely instruct. Do a full shutdown and if you're wary about whether or not it might be still wrapping up a few things, I'd wait about
1 minute after it shuts down before unplugging. That's what I do if/when I know I'll be unplugging it for any reason and it's worked for every console I've owned... which is quite a few.

I know that the original Xbox One has an external power supply. But my Xbox One X has an internal power supply.

According this support article xbox X power works worldwide

Quote" The Xbox One S and Xbox One X have an internal power supply that works in all regions worldwide. If your console won't turn on, it may simply need a power reset. Often, power issues are due to the power supply resetting after a power surge.

    XBox One Power Supply Issues

    Hi there Michael,

Thanks for reaching out here in Xbox Forums. To help clarify the issue,

    • Are you having issue powering the Xbox One?

I recommend to try the following troubleshooting article: Xbox One Power
    Supply Solution
    .

If you've already attempted all troubleshooting and need a replacement for your Xbox One, that begs the question: Is this an Xbox One Original or an Xbox One S or X console?

You can request to purchase an additional power supply by
    contacting Xbox Support
, if this is for an Xbox One S or X; however, the Xbox One Original power supply is no longer available for purchase from the Microsoft Store, sadly.

I hope that this information helps out.

xbox 1s will not turn on

    Hi Manky999,

Do you have the original Xbox One with the external power supply, or the Xbox One S or One X with an internal power supply?

If you have the original Xbox One, it may be that the power supply is the issue and needs to be replaced. You will need to search for one from a game retailer or online.

If you have the newer models, then unfortunately you will need to get it serviced through Microsoft device support.

Update Xbox One X for resolve problem of Coil Whine

    Hey Alex,

Yes that's plenty for the voltage requirements for the Xbox One X. The AC cable that comes with the Xbox One X is rated at 7 amps 125 Volts. However, the issue may have been caused by the UPS power supply as it is not recommended to plug in the Xbox into
non-standard power sources. Based on the research I did, the UPS power units supply backup power in the event the input power source fails but it does so using batteries or capacitors and that can damage the internal fuse in the Xbox which protects the Xbox
in the event the power source fails, so essentially there is no need for the UPS power supply for the Xbox. Also, the more devices you have sharing the power with the Xbox can strain the internal power supply of your Xbox and cause hardware damage.

There is information regarding the power supply for the original Xbox One but most of the information pertains to the power supply of the Xbox One X as well:

    https://support.xbox.com/xbox-one/accessories/about-power-supply

    • Don't use non-standard power sources such as generators or inverters, even if the voltage and frequency appear correct. Use only AC power from a standard wall outlet.
    • Don't overload your wall outlet, extension cord, power strip, or other electrical receptacle. Confirm that these are rated to handle the total current drawn by your Xbox (as shown on the power supply), and by any other devices on the same AC circuit.
