Xbox one x overheating

Hi just wondering if anyone else is having the problem of the x shutting down due to overheating. The last couple of weeks its been shutting down probably 5 times a day and it doesn't even feel hot and its well ventilated. Problem games are state of decay
2, we happy few, fifa on load up and now shadow of the tomb raider in 4k mode, but i dont have the problem in high frame rate mode.

So just wondering if anyone else is having similar problems or that my xbox needs changing.

The comments/ replies I am reading are asking how it is plugged in etc.

Are they just clutching at straws trying to mute the complaints or could this genuinely be a problem?

My whole TV set up is plugged in to a 4 bank extension with power surge protection (this is because the plug sockets are no where near where I have placed my unit etc.

Also the rear USB ports are giving power as my External HDD does light up when plugged in, and I use a lead to power my controller instead of eating batteries, this does work, just the HDD isn’t recognised when using the rear ports

Hopefully this can be an easy fix otherwise after spending such a large amount and now the current stock shortages

I'll join the wagon here, mines doing the same.. Ridiculous. I've gone from standing the console upright, to laying on its side, but still the problem persists

 

Yes I had a cooling system failure on my PSE XBOX 1 X it had to be sent to the Xbox service centre for repair

Just spoke to game and it sounds like they will just swap it as it is still under warranty

 

I have not yet had a shutdown but my fan does seem to make more noise recently whereas before I never heard it. Its a Scorpio edition so I worry about having to one day send it in as I’m doubtful I’ll get another Scorpio back.

 

That's great news. Unfortunatly due to the fact my console was the scorpio edition I did not have that option

If it's still under warranty, set it up for repair. If not, take it to a trustworthy repair center.

 

My Xbox One X was unable to run the new Shadow of the Tomb Raider in 4K/HDR into 4K TV without shutting down just as game started with first cinematic [Lara’s Plane Crashing]. The message when I turn it back on relates to the unit overheating. I tried
shut down, unplug, uninstall, reload game, etc. - It is in the open, not enclosed space (I even tried cooling it with a fan) it kept shutting down in same place in that one game - other games work fine. I changed the game settings - from Highest Resolution
to Highest Framerate and turned off HDR and I was able to play the game for a while up until another major cinematic of an Apocalypse/Tsunami and it keeps shutting down in the same spot. I get weary of the standard questions/ suggestions - it should not need
unit hardware repair or replacement - it was a gift - and I find Online support Hard to navigate.clearly, the demands of the Shadow of the Tomb Raider exceed the unit it is designed for.

 

If it’s shutting down in the same spot I’m hoping a patch for the game could fix the issue. Seems odd that overheating would happen in the same spot each time.
