Xbox one X overheating issue

Today I got my brand new Xbox one X. I got home and set it up. Installed a couple of games and pubg. When I start pubg and it gets to the title screen, the fans go crazy, and the system shuts down. When I turn the Xbox on again, it gives me an overheating
warning. I have the Xbox on top of a small desk on the corner of my living room, there is nothing obstructing it's ventilation and I always keep the area clean. Even if I deactivate the 4k and try to run pubg at 1080p only, it still shuts down with the fans
going crazy and gives the same message when I turn it back on.

Has anyone experienced this isuue? I'd truly appreciate any help. I just want to exhaust all possibilities before jumping to the conclusion that it's a factory faulty unit. Tomorrow I'll try a non Xbox one X enhanced game to see if it gives me the same issue.

Xbox one x overheating

The comments/ replies I am reading are asking how it is plugged in etc.

Are they just clutching at straws trying to mute the complaints or could this genuinely be a problem?

My whole TV set up is plugged in to a 4 bank extension with power surge protection (this is because the plug sockets are no where near where I have placed my unit etc.

Also the rear USB ports are giving power as my External HDD does light up when plugged in, and I use a lead to power my controller instead of eating batteries, this does work, just the HDD isn’t recognised when using the rear ports

Hopefully this can be an easy fix otherwise after spending such a large amount and now the current stock shortages

I'll join the wagon here, mines doing the same.. Ridiculous. I've gone from standing the console upright, to laying on its side, but still the problem persists

 

Sounds like a an issue with the console, take it back to where you bought it and get it replaced.

 

Yes, this overheating problem is caused by PUBG. It started around update 15 or 16 I think. My fans also go wild once it displays your character and the dynamic background. I've never had it shut down there, but it will randomly shut down while playing
the game. I often point a fan at the Xbox which seems to stop it. Super annoying.

 

Did your problem get solved? It sounds like the dry thermal paste problem that Xbox One X seems to have

If your console is still under the 1 year manufacturer warranty..

I would definitely contact a Xbox support agent to see about setting up a repair order.

please read the thread titled "Xbox One X Shutting Off" on PUBG's forums.

and it's not just PUBG that has had these problems. Several playing Microsoft's own State of Decay 2 have experienced the same issue. Here's one reddit
thread about it. Undead Labs even admitted in their Patch 1.3 notes that they "fixed crashes players were experiencing when loading into their communities."

I've had the shutdown happen to me in both games.

Sorry, Felix, if this is a console repair issue, something needs to be announced or made official, because there are a lot of X users experiencing the same problem. And it would be a slap in the face of everyone who purchased day one consoles only to find
out, AFTER the warranty expires, that they purchased flawed hardware.

So, is this a console design flaw in the X/Scorpio that can be remedied with a console replacement? Or is this a problem with MS dev tools? Or is it simply a problem on the game development side, where devs are just lacking familiarity with the X hardware.
Undead Labs' patch notes make me think it's this, but I'm not so sure that X's design isn't a major contributor to the problem.

Imagine a line with ten people, each person adds a part to the building of an Xbox One X.

The first three people do exactly what they should, then the fourth decides to save money £$€¥

A cheaper part or worker technician is used for this step, then the fifth and sixth person do their part correctly, then person seven, eight and nine decide to save money for their greedy self, they use a another cheaper inferior part or process in the creation
of the Xbox One X.

Person ten does his job correctly, and uses good quality parts and workers.

...as you can see, its all about money, it always has been.

A lot of people blame inferior Chinese production ethics, but the truth is Microsoft hires good companies to build their consoles, but somewhere along the production line a crooked thief trying to make more money for themselves decides to sabotage the Xbox
One X just so they make more profit.

Its disgusting and production is NOT policed effectively by Microsoft, so we have many reports of faulty gaming consoles.

The truth is, more problems means more money ...and Microsoft knows this.

The amount of criminal activity going on in large corporations is staggering, who suffers? we do, the gamers, the customer.

How can we fight back? ...don't buy anything, sounds extreme and crazy, but if you want to teach a corporation a lesson, you keep your money safe in a good bank account, invest it in good ventures and DO NOT give money to the bad ones.

(my new XBOX ONE X also started heating up to the extreme, it actually burns if you put your hand 20 cm from the back exhaust, the fan has also started sounding very erratic and noisy)

Until China better polices its production standards, we should all refuse anything that is made there.

Many other countries manufacturing is superior to China, so we should use them instead.

I don't even bother with Microsoft support, I dont see why I should be inconvenienced and left without a gaming console while they repair issues caused by inferior production and lack of checks on quality control.

This is already my second Xbox One X in two months, if the fan starts playing up on this one, its just going right back to Amazon UK for a full refund.

...and I will do the probably the healthiest and best thing I have ever done, and that is giving up gaming with Microsoft based systems.

Although the only other alternative is Sony PlayStation and I'm not even going to bother with them.

I will just give up.

There are far less problematic hobbies and past times than video gaming!

I think it is ridiculous the amount of annoyance and stress that gamers have to deal with, while console makers and game developers/publishers get FILTHY rich!

Anyone else feel like a guinea pig in a lab sometimes ? ...beta testing, pre-ordering, errors, glitches, failing hardware in consoles, update after update ... its a joke.

Microsoft doesnt deserve a single customer, they treat us like idiots, just one look at the price on the Xbox store confirms that, the price for a game download is SO much more than it is to buy the actual physical game.

Then if you ever have a problem with a faulty console, which happens ALL the time, for YEARS! ... they aren't customer centric, they dont care about the inconvenience that has been caused to you ...you send a broken console, they repair it and you wait 30
days or more to get it back .

...word of advice to any Xbox console users reading this. If you get a fault, take it back to the seller and demand a refund, don't even bother with Microsoft Support.

I'm on Xbox One X console number two so far, and that is in only two months! ... and I hardly play the darn thing. I'd say maybe an hour or two per day, if that! ...and these Chinese made pieces of junk still break down.
