Xbox One X overheating during 4K game play?

I was a winner of the Taco Bell Xbox One X contest. I received my new X console 11/2/2017.

Visually it is quite pleasing with my 4K TV. I am experiencing one big issue though. The new X console seems to be overheating during 4K game play. It will shutdown with out warning and only method that has worked to get it to power back on is to disconnect
the power cord from the back of the console and then plug it back in. This has happened numerous times in the past day & 1/2.

At the moment the system will not power back on at all.

Giving it awhile to cool down before attempting to power it back on. Doesn't make sense its in a very well ventilated open area on my entertainment system. Biggest suck factor at the moment is my COD WW2 disc is in the console and im not sure at the moment
how to retrieve it. There is no way I'm attempting to open this thing up to manually eject the disc....

Stoked i got a free Xbox One X console but, ill be quite honest i think mine is defunct....

Doom 4k HDR

Looking at the Xbox One X Enhanced list here:
https://www.xbox.com/en-us/games/xbox-one/xbox-one-x-enhanced-list, Doom is 4K on the Xbox One X, but not HDR supported.

If your Xbox one X is set for 4K resolution, then it will automatically play Doom in 4K

 

4K Passthrough?

I saw it has HDMI 2.0B thingy on this site.

If say you connect an Xbox One X to your 4K HDTV, you should still be able to:

1. Download the YouTube and Netflix apps, onto your Xbox One X, and still be able to watch in 4k 60fps?

2. Use Xbox One X 4k Blu-ray player to watch 4k Blu-ray disc movies in 4k 60fps?

3. Play games on Xbox One X, in 4k 60fps?

.... right?

 

there is a little whole on the side where you put the disc, I think that's how you get a disc out not sure.

 

Do you have the console flat or vertically? I have my one x flat and I have been using it a lot with no issues. I think I heard in one of the breakdown videos that it gets the air for the liquid cooling from the sides so it might not be getting enough air
for proper cooling if you have it vertically, at least without a stand.

 

Mine is gettin very hot and emitting an awful smell. Does your smell at all when it gets hot?

 

If it's the one that you got from the Taco Bell promo it just might be the tacos you smell.

I had the exact same problem with it no longer powering on. I just returned it and got a new one. Let me know if yours eventually comes back to life.

Do you have anything on top of the console? I had a HDD on top of mine adding to the heat.
