Xbox one x overheat prevention

I’m trying to play destiny 2 and my Xbox keeps shutting off to prevent over heating, the Xbox’s fans aren’t blowing loud and it’s not hot to the touch. it’s been happening a lot recently and it’s causing me to lose a lot of progress, Any help would be appreciated. Side note this just started happening I used to be able to play destiny for like 6 hours at times and this wouldn’t happen.

It’s been out of warranty for about 2 years now, so I’ll probably just save up money to try and get a series x.

If your console consistently shuts down due to ventilation problems, even after the console is free from clutter and no vents are obstructed, it needs to be serviced.

Do you know if your console is still under warranty? if your console is under warranty, repairs would be free of cost. Xbox consoles typically have a warranty period of 1 year after purchase, although this may vary depending on your country of residence. The xbox one x will certainly get hotter than previous consoles, but it's perfectly normal. Ensure you have adequate ventilation and it won't overheat.

The Xbox One X and One S have built in power boxes so it could overheat doubling up on the surge protection.

If you tried it directly in the wall outlet and it still overheats, it may be eligible for service or repair you can find the website below.
