Xbox One X only selecting Stereo Audio (Error Code 0x80bd0009)

I have an Xbox One X hooked up to a new LG C9 OLED 4K TV, with the audio going to a receiver through the TV's ARC. When I first set up the new TV/ARC, the Xbox wouldn't let me select 5.1 uncompressed or 7.1 uncompressed if the Video Output was in 4K. I could
select Bitstream Out though (so I did). This sent a Dolby Digital 5.1 signal to the receiver.

Yesterday (after the 7/8 update) I noticed that my games were only in Stereo sound. I went to the audio settings to try and fix it, and noticed that I was now unable to select Bitstream Out too! I got a message with Error Code 0x80bd0009. I've seen

many other forums about this same issue, but unfortunately the solutions presented in those no longer works (for me at least). They suggested switching to video output to HDMI instead of Auto amongst other things. Or downgrading to 1080p, which I won't
do.

The new LG OLED has eARC or "Enhanced ARC", which allows full, uncompressed sound to be sent to a TV and then Receiver via ARC, as opposed to lossy DD or DTS signals. Maybe Xbox One X is not yet compatible with eARC, as not many TV's have it? Either way,
I theoretically should be able to send 5.1 uncompressed, 7.1 uncompressed or Bitstream Out with eARC, but I can't do any of them.

I at least want it to work the way it did in the last update and allow Bitstream Out (without having to get an optical audio cable).

Is Xbox aware of this issue, and are there any other solutions other than those offered in

previous forums?

I have cables that should be capable, but the Receiver does not have HDMI 2.1 capabilities... however, it should at least be able to receive the normal DD or DTS signal that Bitstream Out usually sends. But I'm unable to even select that!

I'm in the Insider Program, and reported it there too. I also read many Microsoft and Reddit forums (like this and this)
with that same HDMI instead of Auto solution. However, it did not work (it also wouldn't let me enable Dolby Vision or HDR). Many users have reported this issue and have reported solutions, but the solutions aren't working for me.

Hi Brad, sorry for the confusion... I was in the Insider Program on my old console, but am NOT on this new Xbox One X console I just got. So I have the regular Xbox Software and not the Beta.

As this was an insider update i would wait and see if they put out a fix. They will generally post it on the reddit forum also.

Thanks for coming to the forums. We understand you are having issues with the 4K settings. Are you in the insider program? If so you will want to go to the

reddit forum to report the issue. There may be others there as well, and a fix already posted. Have you tried selecting HDTV instead of auto. This sometimes resets all the settings. You can also report the issue by downloading the insider hub app. This
will also show you if you are enrolled in the insider program if you are unsure. Here is a troubleshoot guide for 4k.

Try these out and let us know.
