Xbox One X offline playing 360 BC games

Hello everyone,

I just found that the backwards compatible games I have previously installed are no longer working on my Xbox One X.

Here is the full flow:

1. I connect my Xbox to the internet.

2. I installed Xbox 360 game with the disc and wait for the download.

3. I disconnect the console from the internet.

4. I put the 360 disc in and play the game without issues.

5. I try the same thing 2-3 months after that and the console is telling me that I have to connect to Xbox Live or that my game is NOT backwards compatible.

This is happening with ALL my BC games.

What is this [Mod removed- inappropriate]?! What is the point of setting my console to Home console and NOT connecting it to the internet and my games to become unplayable?!

I think that Microsoft should really look into those things because I think they have no clue about the customer experience. AT ALL!

Anyone with the same issue!?!

Sadly, Warhammer 40K Space Marines is not backwards compatible with Xbox One or Series X. The only way to play this game is on an Xbox 360 or by purchasing the PC version on Steam.

Note: There is no separate list for Xbox 360 games on Series X. If I game is not BC on the Xbox One, it won't be BC on the Series X|S either.

The Xbox One wasn't powerful enough to make all Xbox 360 games BC as the 360 hardware uses a totally different type of CPU architecture. Unfortunately, the BC program has now ended. No more Xbox 360 or original Xbox games will be made backwards compatible. It wasn't a simple process, hence the limited amount of titles.

The Xbox One can't read and run the data directly from BC 360 game discs. The games don't run from the discs like they would on a 360 console.

When Microsoft made these games BC, it took the original games, and without getting into all the technical details, reverse engineered and repackaged them as a digital downloads so that the Xbox One can play them. This is why as Smwutches as already stated,
there is an 'Update' when you insert a BC disc 360 game into your console. This isn't an update, it's actually the digital version of the game.

This is why your 360 game 'updates' are around the 8-16 GB sizes. Still comparatively small compared to the average Xbox One digital game download.

The BC system for 360 games on the Series X will have to work the same as there is no other way to do it.

However, the Series X is architecturally similar to the Xbox One, so Xbox One games will install and play on Series X just as they do an on an Xbox One console.

Yes, Series X users will be able play Xbox One S and Xbox X players online. You'll also be able to play the same BC 360 titles online the Xbox One plays.

The only games not supported will be the Kinect titles.
