Xbox one x not sending video or sound to tv

Are you able to get the troubleshooting screen?

Have you recently installed a system update? It may have failed.

Excerpt from System update solution

If you've just powered on your Xbox One console, and you see a black screen instead of the green Xbox startup animation screen, leave your console on the black screen for at least 10 minutes to see what happens.

Note A black screen doesn’t always mean that there’s an error. During startup, your console runs a full system check, validating the firmware and the operating
system. These checks run in the background and can take several minutes to complete.

If your console remains stuck on the black screen for at least 10 minutes,

perform an offline system update.

If you wait 10 minutes or longer and the black screen eventually transitions to another screen (for instance, to the Home screen, an image of the Xbox controller or the “Choose your Time Zone” screen), restore
your console to factory defaults. To do this, follow the steps at

If you haven't yet, try leaving the system unplugged for 5 minutes and plugging it back into the wall, it sounds funny but this has fixed my XBOX One X one time after many attempts at hard resetting. I've heard there is an internal power breaker that resets
when you do this.

Another thing to try is using a different HDMI input on the back of your TV, I've had an HDMI port go bad on one of my old TV's. Now I know you've already checked this, but double check that you are plugged into the port labeled "HDMI OUT" on the back of
the XBOX One X.

Thank you for the input. I had already tried what the troubleshoot guide had recommended and it still has not worked or fixed the issue. My console is plugged into the wall normally. I just tried the order you recommended and it did not work

When you "hard shutdown my console", did you turn off the TV as well?

Try turning everything off then restart in this order, TV first, AVR if using, and then the console last of all.

Another thing to do is plug the console into a separate wall socket, not a power board.

Using a power board with other devices may stop the console from getting the correct power it needs to function correctly.

I will try leaving it unplugged for 30 minutes or so. However I did already try switching HDMI ports and I am in fact plugged into the HDMI out port on the back of the xbox. Thank you for the advice!
