    Xbox One X No Sound After Quick-Start


    Issue:

    My Xbox One X (not Project Scorpio) has no sound approx. 1 out of every 4 times I boot it up from it's "instant start"/hibernate mode.

    Note: this is a total loss of audio output to the TV and Sound system (tried both) and is in every menu and games. This also is not an issue with either the TV or Sound system (Sony
    Soundbase) because it has quite literally never happened with any other game system/player attached to those devices and never happened using the Xbox until this month.

    Timeframe:

    This issue started for me within this last month (7/2019).

    Fix:

    Restart the Xbox and it "magically" has sound again.

    Requesting Feedback:

    Wanting to know if anyone else has this issue with their One X (please let me know) or if you've discovered a fix that keeps it from occurring. I'm waiting for an Xbox Update that will magically fix it in the meantime.

    Follow-up. I did the soft-reset on the system and I've still encountered the issue. I'll keep digging.

    Thanks for reaching out here in Xbox Forums. I understand there is an issue with the Xbox One X. I recommend
    trying a soft factory reset of the console, Reset and keep games
    and apps to help reset the operating system. Please note before doing this troubleshooting step, make sure to know your email and passwords for your Xbox profiles.

    Try this out and let us know the results.
    I guess I'll give it a shot. Stinks though, as that's like bulldozing a building and rebuilding because of a water leak. My issue is that I believe (but haven't proven yet) that I got an update that is causing this issue, as the sound dropping out is inconsistent
    and the hardware (TV/sound system) haven't degraded.

    You just need to power cycle your Xbox. Or on your tv switch the HDMI modes, as this can also cause sound to bug out.
    My friend, that's not a solution. That's the break-fix I'm using to address an issue which cropped up out of nowhere. If your computer started randomly dropping it's connection to the monitor every other day, you wouldn't just settle for "I guess this is
    just my future for forever". The goal is to restore functionality to the system's normal level of operation.

    Have a search in XBox Insiders Reddit about the Power mode Instant on and the advice to switch mode to Energy save instead.
