Xbox one X no longer playing any disks

Awhile back i wrote a post explaining my Xbox one X no longer would play any backwards compatibility disks i had though they played fine on the old Mast Chief Edition xbox one, well now aswell as them not working no Xbox one game i have on disk will work,
these include

Master Chief Collection

Call of Duty Ghosts

Final Fantasy 15

Elder Scrolls Online Morrowind

Destiny 1

The list is short because i've mainly bought digital

I've reset xbox to factory settings twice, it does not help

Final Fantasy 15 an COD Ghosts were both unopened games with not a mark an both did exact same as the rest, a wee bit of noise from the disk player as if reading them then nothing

I've turned auto play on and off, both doing absolutely nothing, no icon ever shows to say there a disk even in tbh

An on top of it all the Xbox randomly powers of every now and then.

Anybody any suggestions, the xbox is day ond project scorpio, so yeah warranty nearly up which is just typical

Disk drive broken: any way to play games I've already downloaded?

My Xbox one disk drive just stopped working and I can no longer play any of the games that I've purchased on disk and downloaded. I don't want to pay to repair the drive, since I'd rather wait for the new console. Is there anyway to get permission to play
games I've already purchased?

do you HAVE to download updates to play games on disk? (satellite connection here ) xbox one x

Thanks for reaching out to us! Since your console isn't recognizing any discs, one thing you can try is changing the power mode on your console and then doing a physical power cycle to see if that works out the kinks.

1. Press the Xbox button
   to open the guide.
2. Select System > Settings > Power
   & startup > Power mode & startup
   
3. Select Power mode, and then select Energy saving.
   
4. Perform a "hard power cycle" by holding down the Xbox button
   on the console for 10 seconds. Once the console has completely shut down, press the
   Xbox button on the console again to restart it.
   
5. Try your disc again. Wait a few seconds to see if the console recognizes it. If the console can now read the disc, you can revert back to Instant-On power mode.
   

Give that a try and let us know the results please!

 

It's currently on an always has been on energy saving

I went ahead and powered down anyway just in of chance, restarted put disk in an it made a noise as if trying to read then silence again an nothing

If none of the disks are working and no power cycling or re-setting is working, it may be time to register your Xbox One for repairs. Hi Chris,

Thanks for replying and keeping us updated. Since you already have it on Energy Saving mode, then just follow the instructions to switch it to go to Instant On and try that. The point is to change the power mode to attempt to achieve the result.

You can also try clearing your persistent storage and your locally saved games. Sometimes cache builds up in those areas and can cause some trouble with discs as well.

1. Press the Xbox button
   to open the guide.
2. Select Settings.
3. Select All Settings.
4. Select Disc & Blu-ray. Then Blu-ray.
5. Select Persistent storage and then clear it 3 times.

You can clear your locally saved games by going to Settings >
System > Storage > Clear local saved games. Be aware that this will cause a restart of the console.

If all else fails, and you are under warranty, you may need to
set up a repair for the console.

Did both of your suggestions an same result except when i put a disk in the sound reminded me of a printer printing something if that makes sense

 

Yeah i registered it few weeks back to see if warranty was still live

Hmmm. If your disc drive is making those types of sounds, then you may simply just need to have the console repaired. You do have a couple of options:

• going to your
  nearest Microsoft store,
• setting up a repair online yourself, or
• requesting a callback from Xbox Supportto help you set up the repair.

The easiest way to get to a live representative is to request the callback by clicking the above link (don't forget to log in!), select Xbox One, select No Thanks, Select System Update (to get the option for call back).

Dont think theres a Microsoft Store in the UK

Tried setting up a repair online an all im getting is Retrieving your eligibility with a sort of loading circle above it doing nothing

I'll try the callback tomorrow as its 12:30 am here

 

I feel that microsoft should resolve the issue instead of charging £114 to fix the fault with the disc drive, which at the time of manufacture microsoft new had a fault issue
