    Muted Mic Symbol

    Hello Tamilly,

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. There are a few things that can be causing this to happen. Have you been able to test your headset on a different controller? Or if possible, a different headset?

Is your controller up to date fully?

Your network could affect this as well. You can verify your
    NAT type
from your network settings. Perferably, you would want this
    set to open.

    Hope this helps!

    Muted Mic Symbol

Hi tried all that literally been trying it all day, the headset works the controller works etc we cant get rid of the muted mic sign at top of screen and it doesnt let us click on the volume section in the remote settings. Ive read online that loads seem
to have this problem since an update. Seems really unfair as we paid for a headset we now cant use

    Hi there Yazar,

Thanks for reaching out! I'm sorry to hear about the current issue you may be having with one of your Xbox One Controller.
I recommend to take a look at the following troubleshooting resources:

    • Have you
      updated your controller’s softwareto
      support the Stereo Headset ?
    • Make sure your controller has fresh batteries. When the batteries get weak, some controller functions, such as audio
and rumble, are turned off to conserve the remaining power.
    • Make sure your Headset Adapter is firmly plugged into your controller and that your Stereo Headset’s 3.5-mm cable
is securely plugged into the Headset Adapter. You will know it’s plugged in properly if you press the mute button and the LED lights up.
    • Try your Xbox One Stereo Headset with another device, such as a laptop, to see if the headset is working. If not,
the headset will need to be replaced. To order a replacement, go to the Xbox Online Service
      Center
      .
    • Try your Stereo Headset and Stereo Headset Adapter on another controller, if you can. If the headset works on the
      second controller, try updating the
      first controller
again. If that fails, the controller will need to be replaced. To order a replacement, go to the
      Xbox Online Service Center.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi Yasar,

I'd be happy to try an help. So it seems that the mic mute symbol is always on, no matter whether the headset is plugged in or not, and as a result the headset doesn't work.

If you start an Xbox Live party chat, do you get the warning symbol that a mic cannot be found for the profile?

Do you have the Xbox stereo headset with two ear pieces or an Xbox chat headset that only has one earpiece?

Also is your Xbox enrolled in the
    Xbox Insider program
    ?

Do you happen to have any other earbuds or headphones at home with a microphone to test them out with the audio jack?

    Hi Yasar,

Good to hear from you. So the Xbox Chat headset seems to be recognized by the console but can you not hear people when you are in a party chat or in a game chat? I believe the chat headset has a wired headset adapter that plugs into the USB looking port
at the bottom of your controller. Usually the audio jacks in the controllers can start deteriorating and be the source of the issue but the adapter will work best most of the time. Based on the indicator you mentioned, the chat headset should at least be working.

    Have you tried a complete
    power cycle
    yet?

    1. Turn off the Xbox One console by pressing the Xbox button on the front of the console for about 10 seconds until it shuts down completely.
    2. Unplug the console's power cable. Wait 5 minutes.
    3. Plug the console power cable back in.
    4. Press the Xbox button on your console to turn on the Xbox One.

Give that a try and let us know if it helped!
