Xbox One X Media Player not detecting 1TB USB3.0 drive

Discus and support Xbox One X Media Player not detecting 1TB USB3.0 drive in XBoX Games and Apps to solve the problem; I have a 1TB HD USB 3.0 and the Media Player does not detect it.     Xbox One X Media Player not detecting 1TB USB3.0 drive


    I have a 1TB HD USB 3.0 and the Media Player does not detect it. I would like it to detect it so I can watch videos and listen to some music. Please Advise.

    What's the speed of the hard drive of the Xbox one X?

    The xbox one x has a 1TB 7200 rpm hard drive and it is not user replaceable.

    USB drive not recognized by media player app

    I have a WD my book Essential 3tb usb3.0 powered external drive with videos and audio files, when I connect it to the Xbox One after a few seconds it tells me the device is ready, but when I turn on the media player app the drive is nowhere to be found.
    I go into the settings menu and manage storage sub-menu and the drive is correctly identified, I use the view content option, loads the media player app, but the drive is not found. Any ideas on how to fix this, seems like an app problem.

    How can I download music onto my Xbox One S?

    You can put your music onto a USB3.0 drive, plug it into the Xbox One S and use the Simple Background Media Player to play the files. Otherwise, there's no other way to get your music onto the console.

    the xbox has usb3.0, and external drive must be a usb3.0 drive.

    You should return your drive to store.

    I followed the guide on that link but it didn't help my problem the device is recognised it's on the list but when I go into media player or even pick it from the list in settings it comes up no device recognised in media player
