    Xbox One X loses picture when starting game


    Hey all,

    I have just spent roughly 30 minutes googling this with multiple answers but im still not sure it fits in with my issue so thought i'd ask the board.

    In my theatre room i have a BenQ W2700 projector hooked up to a Xbox One X by a 10m long HDMI cable. I previously had a Xbox One console which worked great with movies and Gaming etc but thought i'd upgrade to the One X. Everything seemed to be fine with the Xbox homepage (prob just SDR) until i start to play a game, after the games main page shows up i lose HDMI signal like the cable was removed and screen goes black. Doing a 4K test from the Xbox settings makes the screen go a bit weird and says it doesnt have Dolby Vision. So what i found out is that it could be the projector/xbox switching from SDR to HDR for the game and it not being supported for some reason and/or having a 10m 4K cable hampers the quality and needs to be below 5m for best results. Im yet to try out a shorter cable but im just wondering if anyone else has had this before and how you fixed it. Im a bit new to all this and learning as i go. Thanks

    Are you using a converter/adapter of some sort or the HDMI cable is plugged directly into the Projector?
    HDMI straight from projector to Xbox, the same as how i had it with the Xbox One console

    the longer cables are starting to be an issue with newer hdmi revisions, best to place a hdmi booster/amplifier in the middle or at one end.
    This could be the answer im looking for, dont really want to buy another 10m cable if i dont have to so i'll try it out with a shorter one first and have a look. Does make sense, thanks for your help

    Try a shorter cable. But first also try setting your Xbox display to 720p and then 1080p to see if games show up
