XBOX ONE X LAUNCH CELEBRATION Thread/Discussion

Hi everyone!

I thought I'd create this thread to celebrate Microsoft's awesomeness Xbox One X console which will be releasing in the next few hours for New Zealand and Australia and when it's November 7 for the others on the other side of the world from us (US/UK).

A+ to Microsoft. I pre-ordered my X earlier this month from my locale EB Games store in the CBD. They txt me this afternoon and said EB Games stores throughout NZ will be open from 10:30pm tonight for the Xbox One X Launch Party. (I also went to Sydney NYE
fireworks December 2016 leading into NY 2017 and Sydney has the best fireworks NYE display in the world!). I confirmed by ringing them when I got a friendly confirmation from this chick who answered the phone (salesperson from the store). She said yup they're
open from 10:30pm tonight. They will issue everyone who attends their Xbox One X consoles at midnight. Afterwards I'll take it home and unbox it with a pair of white gloves I brought. Then do YouTube videos of it.

I attended Xbox One's midnight launch in November 2013 when EB Games opened 27 NZ stores for the midnight event. About 40 people attended (NZ is small, so we can't say millions). And we had a great time. It's good to enjoy yourself especially when you're
young, and make the most out of it. You don't want to grow up all serious or a grump. When I went to the midnight launch of the original Xbox One console in 2013, EB Games gave me free Microsoft wrist bands and necklaces and they packed my original console
in a flash plastic carry bag.

I'll lose some sleep over this, but it's well worth it. A+ Microsoft and EB Games. I hope my US/UK Friends on here enjoy their X consoles when it's November 7th for the US/UK. I know these people who live on the other side of the world from Australia and
New Zealand are like a day behind us. And there's only a 2 hour like time difference between NZ and Australia (Sydney, Melbourne).

"The World's most powerful console" A+ Microsoft. And it looks cute has specs which silence the competition, and cool vapor cooling in it.

O yeah It's Monday 6 November 6:18 pm NZT for me. Definitely going to that midnight launch party which starts at 10:30 pm tonight but may arrive at the store a bit after 11pm tonight. Good time too since summer for NZ/Australia is December - February and
we have our long summer holidays (people at work, and schools which finish up early to mid December for the summer break). It will be like the only retailer open in the CBD late tonight. Night life. Well EB Games and Microsoft are American so it's great to
have this event in NZ. Perhaps EB Games stores in Australia are doing it?

bf to help set it out cause I know my brother won't help. If my bro breaks it or hassles me when I'm on it, he'll get grounded with no electronics for .... days. My dad knows I deserve it :II

 

Games I want to transfer over ASAP will be:

A world of keflings*, Happy Wars*, Minecraft*, FH3*, Halo Wars 2*, Infinite Mingolf*, Rocket League*, Screamride, Final Fantasy XV, and Zoo Tycoon*. * Digital copy.

Benefits of going to the night event is being able to download the games when the Servers aren't busy. And would have transferred what I want by lunch time. Otherwise when Australia, and especially UK and US catch up to November 7, a lot of people are going
to be transferring content to the X. Getting it tomorrow morning means a good nights sleep but spending half or until dinner time setting up and transferring the games since the Servers will be bottlenecked due to the amount of people transferring stuff to
the X.

I'll transfer the rest of my games over later in this month. Am considering getting The Sims 4 and Assassins Origins. EA mentioned a November console release for The Sims 4. To make up for the lost sleep if I got tonight's party, I will just go to sleep
at like 9pm tomorrow.

 

Actually have decided to not attend the midnight launch. Too late. I'll pick it up when they open during normal hours at 9:00am. I should have transferred what I want by about 3 ish in the afternoon. Expect to see a photo of it within
the next 12 hours. 10:20 pm Monday November 6 for me.

 

I convinced the OP it would be best just to get it first thing in the morning. It will be still November 6 in the UK and US by the time he puts up his photo with it anyways, unless these people cheat and receive it before their November
7. It's 9:33 a.m. 6 November in the UK and 1:33 a.m. 6 November in Redmond, WA, USA.

 

Of course, he listens to you. I swear he was pretty adamant about it. But who cares, we'll all have it tomorrow and then we can go cray cray xD. I wish I was on study leave. Lucky you finish at 1....

 

I went to GameStop and offered them €25 extra to let me take it home but they wouldn’t budge.......nerds. I’ll have to send my wife to get it. I was gonna take the day off, but I’ll do that Friday instead.

I’m interested in seeing how much quicker the network transfer is than redownloading.

Hello. Back again. I've connected wi fi to my secure home network (wireless). Just downloading something like a 700MB approximately Update for Xbox One. Few! Everyone will get this update. And we can thankfully it's NOT the combination of all Xbox One updates
because if you add those MB all up it would be a whole lot more than just 700MB. The console took like 60 seconds to boot up, not too bad. But it's the initial setup I'm going through right now. Wonder if Microsoft will release the super duper graphics pack
for Minecraft today. Still be transferring my most important games throughout this afternoon.

Important games:

Final Fantasy XV (disc), Minecraft (digital), Infinite minigolf (digital), rocket league (digital), FH3 (digital), Screamride (disc), Zoo Tycoon (digital). <---- These games I can do this afternoon. I will also install Netflix and YouTube. I wonder if Microsoft
has a Facebook app too and if it's available in Australasia or Oceania or Australia and NZ however you people on the other side of the world refer to us.

 

Also to let everyone know, you will need to manually update the store separately. As the initial set up's System Update does not include it.

The store Update, when you first use it on the X, is 140MB big roughly. Also when you get the X, only 780GB of the internal 1TB or 1000GB or 100,000MB however you put, is useable. I also have a Seagate Slim 1TB HDD which has a 3 year warranty from Seagate
XD.

IMPORTANT. Once you have applied the Store Update to your X (only takes a minute), the UI/Dashboard will show you your entire Xbox One games library on the left "Ready To Install". Thank you Microsoft for this feature. Be back with an update soon.

I think her bf is gonna help her set it up when they finish school. She said she couldn't find the receipt this morning but her mum txt me she's already picked it up and left it at her place. She probably did that cause if she left the receipt with her, she
would've skipped school. Well at least she won't have to share her dad's console anymore

 

Another update,

The standard Xbox One X (there's only two editions so far, Scorpio and Standard - what most people have been pre-ordering since the scorpio edition sold out quickly and was only a limited edition)..... doesn't! come with a mic. It's the first Xbox console
(Xbox 360 slim, Xbox One day one edition) that hasn't come with a mic. It still have my turtle beach and the mic that came with my day one Xbox One. Microsoft has stopped production of the Kinect to Xbox One Adaptor for S and X consoles. I still will keep
my Xbox One original so I can return to Kinect. Amazon and ebay are charging very high prices for it. EBay Australia is like US$180 + AU$28 for 14 day so called "express" courier and amazon UK/US sellers don't deliver to NZ for that particular product but
they do for EBay Australia but they charge around AU$480. It's ridiculous. Microsoft Store NZ had an RRP of NZ$68 for it. I was a bit too late in getting it for the X. Microsoft has run out of stock. But I can live without Kinect. I do have this thing called
a Samsung S8, a laptop and my desktop. I guess that could be another thing people new coming to Xbox will complain about. Why didn't this console come with a mic. But so far it's going well. I want to see if I can edit and upload my YouTube video tonight.
Still got a bit more recording to do once all my games have downloaded. At this rate, it may take another 3 or 4 hours should be done by 6pm tonight. It's 1:45pm for me. I have Vodafone NZ 100mb/s download and 10mb/s upload.

The Servers are going to be bottlenecked over the next day or two, as everyone downloads/transfers their games onto their new console.
