Xbox One X Kinect Adapter

To whom it may concern,

I understand Microsoft has completely shifted away from the connect and moving on completely from it. It's hard for me to believe that all of your consumers feel the same way. I thought offering a free adapter to continue to use your Kinect was brilliant
with the Xbox One S.

I upgraded to the One X today to find out I have to buy a $40 dollar adapter if I want to continue to use my Kinect. I don't think it's a great way to thank your loyal customers who were with you since the Xbox One came out. It's not the amount of money
but the principal of having to buy something to use what I already paid for.

I don't appreciate it

Yep. You need an adapter to use the Kinect on Xbox One S and One X.

Ugh I am still using the same connector that they gave me for my Xbox One S and it works perfectly fine. Unless you never got the S and the adapter which they were giving away for Kinect owners for a brief period of time.

 

Yeah I was waiting for the 1 X to come out but if I would have known they were not going to offer it a free adapter with it, of course I would have taken advantage of that offer at the time.

As you guys mentioned the Kinect Adapter promo is not included with the One X. I'm strictly guessing here, but I would imagine it would have something to do with Microsoft not making the Kinects anymore. There is a feedback post at the link below. I would
recommend up-voting this, or another idea that more closely matches this.

Also don't forget this was advertised as part of your launch campaign. Or is this something that will be included in xbox one z?

 

I would have to say they want people to forget that this disclaimer was ever released. How else are they going to make more money off of the sheep.

And to add insult to injury, the MS store is sold out and every online retailer who
was selling it at retail ($39.99) are completely sold out or are charging $80+ from a third party seller. No joy there...

 

I actually agree, I will be coming from a original Xbox One (Kinect came with the system) It would of been nice for them to include the adapter. I use the Kinect for control of my Xbox, love pausing and rewinding Netflix and OTA TV.

 

As a former Xbox team member (former MSFT employee) that actually has a physical disability that makes Kinect truly mean something for me let me say that I'm disappointed with how this is being handled. It feels like loyal early adopter Xbox One customers
who waited for the more premium console are being punished for that patience and loyalty here.

By that I'm not even necessarily meaning a freebie. I'm referring to the fact that after speaking with multiple support agents I've had it verified over and over again that even support agents don't have access to stock for warranty replacements and make it
rights, let alone the backend sales channel for parts.

Every single Microsoft Store here (and I live in Washington...home of Microsoft) is out of stock, as is the actual MicrosoftStore.com website.

Retailers near me have 0 stock, and online it's being scalped for 2-5x the MSRP.

It's looking to me like I have two options. Hold onto the One X, but hook my Xbox One back up and use that for now hoping that some sort of solution is worked out for Kinect owners that is feasible, or sadly return the only launch edition Xbox console I've
ever managed to get hold of and stick with the original One since I can have better accessibility via the voice control.

 

Hi mate sorry to be personal what is your physical disability. I am a tetrapalegic. I was wondering how the Kinect assists you may be I can get some tips. I also have the Kinect but I cannot, connect it to my new xbox x. I had also brought the Kinect with
my Xbox one, back when the Xbox one was originally launched. I am in the uk so I am hoping the adapters should be readily available. might be worth checking amazon to.

 

I totally agree. I shouldn't need to spend another $40 just to have the same functionality that my original launch day xbox one has. And the X doesn't even come with a headset either. MS shouldn't penalize their loyal fans. Not to mention the false advertising
about all accessories working with no adapters.

I had childhood epilepsy and it caused damage to some of the centers of the brain that control my muscles, so I've been left with lifelong myoclonus that has been getting worse over the years. It presents similar to Parkinson's and I can usually control it,
but sometimes I can't and then trying to hold onto things like remotes and controllers is near impossible.

So I use the Kinect for the Cortana controls on the system. That way for times when I can't game I can at least do a ton of the system control via voice and only have to do small bits via remote or a controller.

I'm in the US and still live near the main Microsoft campus. There's almost half a dozen Microsoft Store locations within a short distance of me (the only ones in the state in fact) and they're all out of stock as are the other retailers I've contacted. The
MicrosoftStore.com website is also out of stock, and Amazon only shows 3rd party sellers that are charging over 2x retail. eBay is even worse with some folks trying to get $200 for them.

This was why I was hoping they were going to take care of X buyers like S buyers in at least some fashion (at least a discount or stock set aside to guarantee we could have one) so that we wouldn't be left in the cold.

I refuse to buy it for more than retail price from the scalpers *sighs*

 

The Uk Microsoft store online was selling the Kinect adapter £29.99, but of course sold out. I can wait to hold out till they get more in stock. I hardly used mine, only for convenience to turn off when I couldn't be bothered to push the button on controller.
But if you relied on it, I suppose it is a bit of a pain in the ass.
