Xbox One X keeps freezing and making a weird sound

Hi Microsoft Community,

I have an Xbox One X 1TB. A month ago, while I was playing Katana Zero on it, after 7 minutes of normal gameplay, the game froze and made some weird glitchy sound (I don't have a recording of it). I thought this was a normal part of the gameplay (I was in the nightmare part which has a lot of visual effects) and waited for the "intended glitch" to pass, but then my game crashed around 9 seconds after the glitch with no error code or anything. I still thought it was part of the gameplay, and I relaunched it with no interruptions and problems.

Yesterday, I decided to play some Terraria. I was almost done defeating the Eye of Cthulhu when the same glitch happened again. That time I finally realized it was an actual glitch and that the glitch from a month ago wasn't part of the gameplay in Katana Zero. I looked at help articles but they all said the same thing: "contact Microsoft Support". I tried to do that but I was waiting in the queue for 20 minutes with position #1. ???

How is this glitch caused? Can I fix it? Is it only associated with 2D games (both Katana Zero and Terraria are 2D games)?? Please help. Thanks, Catty

Does this only happen with these two games? Do you use an external hard drive with the console? If so, try installing the games to the console's internal memory and disconnect your console's hard drive.

If the problem persists, clean your console's MAC and see if the problem occurs.

To clean the MAC follow this path
Settings>general>network settings>advanced settings>alternative MAC address and click clear and restart the console when prompted.

If the problem still persists, reset the console to factory defaults while keeping games and apps.
You won't miss anything but you will need to login to your accounts again, email and password is required.

Hi Samy,

Yes, I do use an external hard drive but the games are installed in my internal one.

The external hard drive is a Seagate Game Drive for Xbox (1TB USB 3.0).

The problem only happens with these two games.

Don't know why the One X can handle playing COD: Warzone at 4K60FPS but it can't handle simple 2D games...

I also factory reset my console two weeks ago because my ethernet wasn't working with the Xbox but now it does. I don't feel like it's worth doing it again though.

I'll get the occasional freeze on the One and the X and they both make a loud buzzing sound when they freeze.

I have tried to address it to them, no response. Xbox One X worked perfect before this game.The crashing started making my Xbox run weird. It would freeze, lag, change the screen colors, sound would cut out. Im just addressing the situation because luckily
I had insurance, not everyone else does. The game developer makes millions and for it to break the most powerful console is bs and they need to take accountability.
