Xbox One X internet speed cap

Does the Xbox One X have a cap for internet speeds? I get 1gb down internet, so I typically get 450mbps on average on other devices. However, on my Xbox, I only get around 98mbps. I'm wondering if there is a cap.

I do have a wired connection btw, tried it w/o wired and speed halved.

    :)

Please Help! Would Sattelite Internet Work?

I had satellite internet before cable came to our town back on the 360 and it was near impossible to play back then. That extra delay of sending the signal to a satellite and back down caused so much lag, also if it was even remotely cloudly our speeds were almost non exisistent, maybe, hopeuflly the tech behind it has improved in the ten years since I had it. The price back then was also ridiculous it was 79.99 a month for a 1 or 2 mb connection. Another big thing to watch is that it seems like satellite internet hada bandwidth cap of 5 gb, most of the time causing our internet speeds to dip to 56k speeds if we went over the cap until the next billing cycle. Looking at hughes net it does seem they improved at least on speed and data cap with the lowest tier plan starting at 10 mb and give you a 60 gb data cap which you could use up in 1 or 2 xbox one game downloads. It also gives you 50 gb of extra cap if your using it between the hours of 2 am and 8 am aka the times when less people are going to be using it. Personally I would stick with your cable internet it will always be better then satellite internet, I would call centurylink and have a tech come check your lines, modem and network set up, if you're speeds are that bad there has to be something causing it.

Please Update Xbox Live Internet Speeds

Please Update Xbox Live Internet Speeds

When I download a game it get speeds of 60Mb/s up to 120Mb/s

My Internet speed is 500Mb/s, Soon they will finish Fiber and I will be at Gigabit speeds

With the Xbox One X coming you would think Microsoft/Xbox would up there speeds to Gigabit

As with all the Digital games and Streaming Xbox Live needs more Speed

    Thank you,

    James

To my knowledge there is no cap. That is done in your router. But I would look here at the networks settings, Network Settings on Xbox One, and make sure your settings are correct. If you are still having issues you
can hit the contact us icon toward the bottom of the page. You will get to a point where you can chat with an online rep or say No Thanks. This should allow you to choose from more options and then be able to receive a call from a support person.

    Hello ANM Ironman,

Thank you for bringing this issue to our attention. The Xbox One X is capable of reaching higher speeds. There are several factors that could impact the amount of data the console receives. There are different categories of ethernet cords. Each one distributes
a different amount of data. The categories include CAT5, CAT5e and CAT6. These are just a few examples of different categories of ethernet cords. The priority of devices in the router can also affect this. In order to discover how to prioritize the Xbox One
X in the router settings, the make and model of the router must be known. An example of this is the Netgear(Make) R9000(Model). Be sure to let us know the results!

  6. My xbox one s gets around 130mbs with a cat5 data cable. You may have to look in your router's settings. I pay for 200mbs.

  7. As others have said, make sure to check your router/modem settings. I have gig internet and reach around 900-950 wired.

Getting an average of 450 on other devices could also mean a bad filter on your outside line. I would contact your ISP. You should be getting over 850 on a regular basis.

To go along with what other people are saying you have to keep in mind a few things.

When doing a speed test on other devices they look for the nearest test point.

For instance if you go on say speedtest.net they will give you a choice of what servers you want to ping to see your speed (most people look for the closest server) and the closer to that ping server you are obviously the faster you are going to get a response
    for your test.

Now when a Xbox does a speedtest it is trying to Ping a MS server in the Seattle (MS headquarters) area and depending on how far you are from that area its going to take longer for you and obviously the slower speeds.
