Xbox One X Headset has stopped playing sound

Hello so i recently got a xbox one x headset for my xbox one x and anyways i was fiddling around with settings trying to get the sound to come out of my headset only because the sound was coming from the TV and my headset at the same time so i was mucking
around in settings and i did something and now i cant hear anything at all from my headset does anyone know how i can fix this? I have no idea how to get it working again thanks

I had a headset connected to my xbox [x] and working last night watching on mixer a stream, headset stopped working , stream got muted , unable to add a headset now [dolby access] not working either which is a paid version, it does actually set the headset
up ,but no sound,i did reset console which did nothing, instead now my samsung 4k tv has become incompatible to use 4k after xbox reset plus no compatible speakers found on the tv by xbox warning.

Is the xbox one x faulty?

I just spent an hour on the phone with Xbox Technical Support for them to tell me that now I need to purchase a $40 adapter to use with my headset (which I've successfully been using since December). I tried explaining that the headset which has suddenly
stopped working with Xbox is not the problem (I tested the headset on another device to ensure that I'm able to get sound) and that it's a possible Xbox software issue. He insisted that I need to now purchase the $40 adapter.

I'm now having Xbox One X buyers remorse.

I had a hyper x cloud 9 stinger headset for a little over a year, but the mic stopped working. I use it just for music now, but I went onto amazon and purchased a Peozzar Headset for like $25 USD. And if you do a review you get to pick one of 6 items to
receive back for free, so I chose another headset. Even though it is a cheaper one, it has 7.1 surround sound and everyone can hear me clearly. It was worth it in my opinion.

I have confirmed that both of my headsets work (carry sound and mic works) with other devices. However, they STOP working with every xbox one controller. I just got a replacement controller from Microsoft and it has stopped working.

Do I keep sending back the controllers? I have tried everything and am unable to hear any sounds in the headsets.

I appreciate any advice. Thank You!
