Xbox One X HDMI Resolution Problem.

I purchased an Xbox One X at Christmas Time 2018. My son has been having problems with the Resolution, and the HDMI cable/port working. He has tried 4 different cables, and owns the Battlefield 5 special edition. When the HDMI actually goes through (1/10
chance) the resolution comes through at 640x480. Whenever he tries to switch it to 1080p, the screen goes black, and the screen either goes black and then turns on only to be still in 640x480, or the console completely shuts off. The Xbox turns on completely
fine, but the HDMI does not work. There is a video on this by the Youtuber “TronicsFix” titled “Xbox one x No Signal HDMI repair- Black screen of death. This video does not cover the resolution problem, but rather how to fix the black screen. We would like
to know our options here with the Xbox.

As long as your TV supports HDMI connections with a minimum resolution of 720p, you'll be fine. If it does not, you will have a problem, as Xbox One consoles (first-gen, Xbox One S and Xbox One X) all require HDMI connections and that minimum resolution.

use Xbox one X bundle hdmi cable

HDMI Ultra Deep Color need "ON" , if monitor had and monitor setting "Customer"

Monitor "ON" then Xbox one X "ON", SETUP resolution for 4K...

I bought a LG 27UD69-W , I must HDMI Ultra Deep Color "ON" for 4K resolution...

anyway... try it?

Hiya!

On some TVs, certain HDMI ports offer different resolutions. Try out each port and see if they yield different results.

About TV resolutions and Xbox One

Since your Xbox is still under the 1 year manufacturer warranty, If it turns out to be an issue with your console's HDMI port not working properly, you do have the option to set up a repair order for your console.

I would suggest setting up a call back from an Xbox Live support agent by following the steps below. The agent would be able to walk you through a few troubleshooting steps before setting up a repair order for you.

Step 2 ----Select See other options

Step 3 ----Select topic (Ex. System Update)

Hi SlavxD,

sorry to hear you have been having trouble with your HDMI cables, do you still have the original Xbox one x cable that comes with the console as this one allows you to get 1080p and 4K resolutions as its a 2.1 HDMI cable that was made for the Xbox One X.

You can check the following link to troubleshoot your problem as it could be the cables or the TV if you do not own the Official Xbox One X 2.1 HDMI cable.
