Xbox one x hdmi port fault

Hi ,

My Scorpio edition xbox one x purchased on 09 November 2017 now shows the dreaded no hdmi input fault that loads are starting to experience .Nice to see Microsoft offer me a replament for 188.19 british pounds . 15 months old and its not repairable or covered
by a warranty that is mandated by the EU as 2 years ? Under EU law, consumers are offered a two-year guarantee in which sellers must repair or replace a faulty or not-fit-for-purpose
item, but this right is trumped by the six-year warranty in the UK's own legislation .Could i have a answer to this please.

Thank you for positing here on the Xbox forums. You would need to contact Xbox support in your region in order to get this issue resolved. Contacting support in other regions would result in being told that your warranty is over, and you would have to pay.

Hi , we’ve had exactly the same problem with our Xbox x so arnt we covered by the warranty? Clearly there a fault on there end if it’s happened to loads of ppl

if its a broken hdmi port as is the OP original issue which is physical damage then warranty does not apply as its not a fault.

if the hdmi fails to work without physical damage then it can be a fault with the cable, port, or one of 2 chips internally, if its the port or internal then it can be classed as a manufacturing fault which is covered by warranty.

Faulty HDMI ports are not as rare as you might think. I work in IT and see a lot of the ports becoming faulty on PC's and laptops. It might also be worth checking out your TV/monitor for faulty ports.

My Xbox One X HDMI port works fine but it has caused a fault on two of my TV ports. They no longer push out 4K but work for 1080p.

I had a similar problem it came down to inadequate work on my tv the solder wasnt good enuf so my connection from console to tv was failing i had to get a new tv but if it is this problem then it is easy to fix i you no how to solder

It's definitely the Xbox One X as I've tried an Xbox One S using the same HDMI cable in the same HDMI port on the TV. I've even tried other devices using HDMI in the 3 HDMI TV ports, all work. So it's not a TV fault. Thanks for the reply though.

Actually I figured out the problem this morning. It was simple and totally my own fault. The Yamaha RX-V379 is, in fact, HDCp 2.2 compliant, but only for HDMI in port #4. So the Xbox One X MUST be plugged into HDMI port #4 to play 4k apps.

I hope that this helps anyone that was having the same problem as I.
