Xbox One X HDMI Passthrough not working

For the past week the HDMI passthrough on my Xbox One X has been working fine and suddenly today when I turned it on it was saying no signal(it was passing a DirecTV tuner through). I changed HDMI cables with a cable on a device that was working at the
time and still wasn't working, ran my DirecTV tuner direct to the TV with same HDMI cable and it worked fine. Under settings it listed no HDMI connected, but if I unplugged the HDMI and plugged it back in it would go to "Connected" but then still no picture
and it moved back to saying no HDMI connected. I updated the latest patch that was available, but that did not fix the problem. Seems like an issue with the HDMI slot on my Xbox One X given my troubleshooting but open to other ideas. Also tried passing
through other devices(Apple TV and Roku and neither worked either)

So are you saying you plugged your cable box into the HDMI passthrough on the One X?

If the cable box is defaulting to a lower resolution when connected into the Xbox One X's HDMI passthrough, you should be able to adjust the display output in the cable box's settings menu.

When cable box goes through xbox one x the picture quality is degraded compared to when it is connected to tv straight. Not really resolution, theres more noise in the picture. Tried switching hdmi cables, inputs. Hopefully it can be corrected via software
update.

 

As far as I can tell, you probably have a defective HDMI port on your console. If different cables and devices aren't working, then the problem must lie with the HDMI port.

It sounds silly now, but have you tried a
power cycle yet? This is one troubleshooting step that should never be missed, just in case!

If that doesn't help, then it seems that your HDMI port is broken. You will want to return the console for an exchange with your retailer, or set up a repair with Microsoft (you can do that
here).
