Xbox One X Games Not Loading

For some reason, whenever I go to load a game - no matter how big or small it says 'For some reason this game has taken too long to start. (0x8027025a).

I've hard reset my console, reset my internet & unplugged my external HDD multiple times. No change. It was working earlier & not anymore?

I am confused.

Gta 4 Backward compatibility issue

I can't run gta 4 on my Xbox One X.

Do games that are installed on the console's hard drive work normally, or do they exhibit the same behavior?

Another option you might want to consider is a factory reset, keeping your games & apps installed. You can do that at Settings -> System -> Console Info -> Reset console -> Keep my games & apps.

Hello Yonce,

Sorry for the issue with games not wanting to start. Sometimes it can be caused from a software update that was unsuccessful. You can try doing a

Soft factory reset and see if that helps. When prompted select reset and keep my games and apps.

*******very important please make sure you know the log in information for the account*****

Reason for knowing account details is the profile does get taken off the console, as does the save data. As long as you have an Xbox live subscription the save data is saved on the cloud also.

You will need to reinstall your profile. If anyone else has installed their profile to your console (remember, it is against the Xbox Live Code of Conduct to give account information to another user so they can use it), they will be able to add it back
the next time they use the console.

I appreciate the Xbox One X must be faster at loading games but the Xbox One's speed is fine to me.

The loading speeds of the One X are no better than any other Xbox One as they used the same hard drive...it used to take upwards of 2 minutes for my one X to load a particular game!! You aren't missing out there. The One X is really only if you want the 4k content

Hi, yes that will be so, if you bought a game for the XBOX One, it will run better on the XBOX One X (FPS and loading times) and run even better on the XBOX Series X (FPS and loading times)

You forgot the xbox one x used a ssd lol

There is no way that the One X uses an SSD...loading times for Forza Horizon 4: Up to 2 minutes to load on my One X vs around 30 seconds on my PC (admittedly has an M2 drive).

The hard drive in the One X is the: Seagate 2.5” hard drive, model ST1000LM035 which is a 5200rpm drive and is a mobile hard drive

Hey Venom,

Sorry to hear the game won't load on your Xbox One X. Are you receiving a specific error message and error code when you launch the game? Is the game disc or digital? Are other games loading fine on your Xbox One X?

Keep us posted with that information so we can further assist.

One thing I personally cannot say for certain is if those games loading from the external hard drive will run the same way they would if they were installed straight onto the console...

If you load games on the Series X or S from an external hard drive they will load the same as they do on a regular Xbox One. There won't be any performance issues. Games installed on a external SSD (SATA SSD not the Expansion Card) will load faster then
they would before due to the much faster I/O on the Series X/S.

If you move your games to either the internal storage or the optional Expansion card, you will see significant loading speed improvements. They'll be massive on a game such as Odyssey. Fast traveling in 5 seconds rather than 40 on a regular Xbox One or One
X!

To use the Series X/S 'Quick Resume' on Xbox One or other BC games will require said games to be installed internally or to the Expansion Card. Series X/S games can only be installed on the Internal or Expansion card.
