Xbox One X Freesync Horizontal Lines

Hello, I just gamed for a while today on my new Samsung Q7FN and noticed horizontal lines scrolling from bottom to top with Freesync (variable refresh) enabled. This TV does have the setting as Ultimate available in the Samsung menu. When I turn the setting
off in the Xbox menu, the lines go away. I tried using another HDMI cable, but it did not work. I tried plugging the Xbox One direct into the wall outlet instead of the surge protector, but it did not work.

Has anyone experienced this issue with Freesync and Xbox One X?

    :)

FreeSync on an older Xbox One (not X or S)?

Well I have an Xbox one X with the Spring Update plus an Asus VP28UQG 4k freesync-capable monitor, and it ain't working on my set-up.

Yes, all Xbox One models will be getting Freesync support. At the time of this posting, Freesync is available in ALL preview rings right now, so if you're in the Insider Program and you have a Freesync-supported display, this should be worth checking out
    and testing.

One thing to note is there is a slight difference with the Freesync support on the different console models though:

    • The Xbox One S/X will get Freesync 2 support (with HDR).
    • The original Xbox One will get Freesync support (the first version of Freesync).

    Hello GreenHawk84!

Thank you for bringing this situation to our attention here on the forums. I recommend you contact the manufacturer of the TV and ask them for more information regarding their product.

How to adjust the display settings on your Xbox One
. Let us know with a reply how it goes.

Okay, I started a thread over at the Samsung forum. I will see if anyone comments. If not perhaps I need to start a support ticket with Samsung. I found one other user who experienced this with an NU8000 model Samsung.

Hey Hawk thanks for keeping us in the loop!

We are sorry this issue has come up but rest assured we are here to assist! If the console is experiencing this type of errors we suggest a reset sincethe problem might be on the actual OS of the console so
    we would suggest a
    Soft Factory Reset
(while keeping games and apps) IF AND ONLY IF THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA IS MET:

    • There is a stable network connection.
    • The information for all profiles is known (email and passwords)
Once the setup is complete it will ask if we want to keep settings or manual setup lets do manual setup to make sure this isn't coming from a setting. Give it a shot and let us know of any changes!

Small update, it appears when I select 1440p and 120Hz in the Xbox menu the problem goes away with Freesync enabled. Perhaps there is a conflict with 4K and 60Hz with Freesync on the Samsung TV.

I was able to chat with Samsung today. They are claiming it is the Xbox One X that has the issue. I may have to test my friend's Xbox One X to see if his also does this.

    Hey GreenHawk,

Thank you for reaching out. Before testing out your buddy's console we can make sure this isn't software related by performing a

    factory reset
on the Xbox while keeping your games and apps.

    1. Press the Xbox button to open the guide.
    2. Select Settings.
    3. Select All Settings.
    4. Select System.
    5. Select Console info & updates.
    6. Select Reset console.
Hope this helps! Let us know what happens! Cheers Xbox One X Freesync Horizontal Lines :)

Hello, thank you for the tips. Unfortunately the reset did not work. I was able to plug in my friends Xbox One X and it displayed the same scrolling bands using Freesync at 4K 60Hz. It is my understanding that Xbox One X actually does not do Freesync
at 1440p 120Hz, yet it is selectable. I would recommend in a software update to gray out Freesync when 1440p 120Hz is selected.

Anyway, Samsung appears unaware of the issue. I created a Reddit post on Xbox and many users have reached out, some claiming the same issue on other Samsung models that support Freesync on Xbox. Hopefully this can be resolved by an update to either Xbox
or Samsung firmware or both. It is unfortunate to pay so much for high end features and have issues.

It is the xbox. Just ran into the same problem on an LG 4K monitor. Turned off feature within the Xbox settings and problem went away.
