Xbox One X - Firmware Error - Cannot reinstall - Please help!

Hi,

I am new to xbox and have recently bought my first ever Xbox (second hand, not brand new), it's an Xbox One X and i absolutely love it! I've only had it a couple of weeks so far i have only been playing Deus Ex Mankind Divided (as its the only game i have
so far) i have been absolutely loving it, but after it performed a firmware update the other day it is now stuck on a constant "Something went wrong" screen on boot. :-(

I have been reading everything i possibly could online for the last few days, and it seemed the OSU1 USB offline firmware restore was my best option. I try this, holding the Bind, Eject buttons when powering on until it goes straight into the "Prepearing
Console" screen, but after about 5 seconds every single time (i have probably tried it like 40 or 50 times - yeah i know, silly expecting something different to happen!)

As i mentioned, every single time it gets to "preparing Console" and after about 5 seconds it goes straight to "Something went wrong" screen wth an E106 errer. On the recovery screen it shows:

OS Version: 17763.4037.amd64fre.rs5_release_xbox_dev_1920.181208-1920

After more reading online it seems that this firmware that is on my console (i expect the one it recently updated to before failing) is a pre-release version of firmware (more reading online suggests that it must have been set to allow pre-release firmware
updates?) As such, this firmware a is later version than the firmware version in the latest OSU1 download. I believe this is the reason the OSU1 recovery is failing, because it would be trying to install an older version of the firmware than is currently on
it.

My question then is, how can i get the correct firmware version to put on the USB stick to let the restore continue? Or is it possible to allow it to accept the OSU1 firmware even though it is older then the pre-release version that it currently has? Failing
all this, is the only other option to just wait until there is a fully released firmware version that is later then this pre-release one an finally download the OSU1 download for this and install it? and if that is the case how long could i be waiting???

Im really stuck here with an Xbox One X that i can not use at all, i would really appreciate any help at all that anyone can give.

Ok, that sounds good. Is it possible to remove my console from the preview programme from my microsoft account on a pc? Or does it have to be done on a console?

Hi, it will know and if it was working as normal, would initiate an update to the public build. Because your update is stuck you will need to initiate this via factory reset as stated previously. It may take several attempts but it should get you onto the
public build.

Basically you are on the development teams update servers and by removing your Xbox from the program, you go back onto the public update servers. That's the simplest way to explain it.

Hey man I'm having pretty much the same issue and have been through all the same steps. So far the only t hi g that worked for me was unplugging the Xbox and I left it alone for a day the pluged it back up. And finally it went to the home screen. I was
lucky enough to be able to reset it. Worked for a few days literally played 1 round on PUBG watched a couple movies and thast was it. Then it happened again. Tried a hard rest this time and now this is where I'm at... it hasn't been right since now it Will
freeze any time I try any action from choosing app/game even selecting settings will do it sometimes if I wait 5-30 min it will complete a simple action that's about it. But sometimes when powering up its back to square 1and i just unug it and walk away.
Like I said i have done a soft and hard reset spent way 2 much time and now money trying to fix this. All I get from Microsoft support is the normal run in the mill steps. And online forums and videos haven't held the solution yet. But lucky I had 4 months
left on the warranty and am nowe having it sent for repair. I'll be sure to let you know what I find out. In pictures are either 1 or more codes I ran into

Hi, i have just opened the xbox insider hub on my pc and under manage devices it doesnt show any listed.

But if it was tegistered by a previous owner, would it show up in my insider hub?

As i mentioned i am very new to xbox, never had one or an xbox account prior to a couple of weeks ago.

Hi, if it is pre owned, then it may have been registered by the previous gamer. Just go into settings (in the insider hub) then manage devices and remove it.
