Xbox One X - False advertising?

Quoted from the Microsoft site for the Xbox One X:

Is the Kinect not an accessory? I'm pretty sure that you need an adapter for it to work on the Xbox One X, as there isn't a Kinect port on the back of the new console... One more, in a long line of "F.U." 's to us early adopters of the original Xbox One...

hope this gets answered I was thinking the same looked at the back of new xbox one x and no port for Kinect gutted about this as I use Kinect was gonna buy new xbox but not sure now

 

From what I've read on gaming sites, it will require a usb dongle, same as the Xbox One S...

I'm pretty sure an "angry" e-mail to Microsoft, if they even bothered to read it, would probably either get you a dongle sent for free, or an asterisk * on the advertisement that would say "except the Kinect whose owners we've been screwing since a few months
after release"...

Even on their own site, the Kinect appears at http://www.xbox.com/en-GB/xbox-one/accessories/kinect...ACCESSORIES.... So yeah, I would say this is false advertising..

 

You will need the adapter for the xbox kinect, I got mine free from support when i got the xbox one S, they might do the same thing again, not saying they will, just a guess. it was like a limited time upgrade offer.

I imagine something similar might happen over here in the UK too, with the new xbox one x, but still, it is false advertising to say that "All the Xbox One accessories you’ve got now (or have got your eye on) work with Xbox One S and Xbox One X. No adapters,
no hassle. Just play." If I was a 60-70 year old grandma buying this for my grandkids who already have the xbox one and the kinect, I would think that the kinect would "just play" with the xbox one x.....

 

Does it really matter? I mean the amount of hatred the Kinect got at launch was HUGE.

I say retire the Kinect to the scrap pile of history and move on, very few games ever got released that used it, and now we don't have to have it plugged in for the Xbox One to work, no new games will ever get made.

And for the people that say "I use it to change channels on my TV" the Xbox One X has an IR blaster at the front of the console, just like the Xbox One S does.

 

And what about for the people, like me, who use it for Skype as my family lives in a different country and I like using it on my big TV? That was the whole reason I bought the Xbox One instead of the PS4...That and perhaps for Wii-like exercise games which
never really came to fruition...I also use it to speak to friends while playing online, instead of having to buy an extra headset with microphone... So I would say its uses are not only for the handful of games that came out for it, I use it every day..

I'm not saying if the Kinect is or isn't worth having, I'm just stating that they're falsely advertising something that they know to not be true.

 

Kinect will work with the xbox one x but you will need the same adapter you need on the xbox one s..

If you don't have one then you'll need to buy one,doesn't look like they are giving away for free like they did when the xbox one s launched.

I know the Kinect will work with all the current Xbox versions with an adapter, that's not what I'm saying.

I'm saying you can't have "All the Xbox One accessories you’ve got now (or have got your eye on) work with Xbox One S and Xbox One X. No adapters, no hassle. Just play." written on the website you're showing off your latest console and then expect people
to go out and buy adapters. Either cough up the adapter for free, change the false claim on your website, or do the usual with the tiny asterisk or number beside the current false claim and then write somewhere miles down the page " *Does not apply for the
Kinect. For the kinect you need an adapter sold separately. Adapter. Hassle. No play"..

 

I was a day one adopter as well man, but the Kinect died. Let it go.

 

Again, I know it died, I let it go. Buying a £40-50 extra adapter won't make me poor if I decide to buy the XboX One X.

That doesn't mean the Kinect is not classed as an "Xbox accessory I've got now" though, ergo false advertising on Microsoft's side.

Maybe he'll change the wording to make you happy.

It won't change the fact that there will need to be an adapter for the kinect.

Although some in this "discussion" thread love talking about this, it isn't getting to anyone at Microsoft. They don't really hang out here.

They won't even be aware of your complaint.
