Xbox one x error 0x803F8001

Hello

I just bought red dead redemption (the first one) and wish to play on my xbox one x. However the error 0x803F8001 shows up when I try to launch the game, asking me to either insert the disc or sign in to xbox live.

1. I purchased the game through the windows store webpage and signed in to the xbox one x with the same microsoft account. I AM signed in on the xbox

2. I don’t have the disc, just want to play the game through digital download

3. I tried restarting, reinstalling the game and even resetting the xbox, still the same problem

4. My xbox one x is my home box. I only have this one

5. Xbox live status is normal

What’s the problem here? I just bought the xbox to play some old games that i missed, kinda disappointed. Everything is so complicated and confusing.

What game are you trying to play? Is it played with a disc, or is it a digital download?

Hello ProfuseDoor8804,

If you've not already also tried performing a "clear local Xbox 360 storage" on your Xbox One X console. I'd say to give it a try. You can do this by following the steps provided below.

1. Open your guide and proceed to settings.
2. Go down to system settings and enter into the Storage section.
3. Select "Clear local Xbox 360 storage" and then select yes.
4. After your console has restarted, try launching the game again.

Hopefully this will resolve the error you're seeing.

If you're still having issues. Try removing your profile from the console and performing a restart before adding your profile back.

1st check if you see the purchase into your account details > Sign in to your Microsoft account(display ALL details and be sure to be sign in with your
account ).

If the game is into the history , delete your profile from the console then add it back to sync all infos ( how to >

If not into the history AND if you have been charged for it , call Xbox helpdesk > Contact Us | Xbox Support

Thank you for your help. My house lost power for a day and when I came back to try your methods, the game miraculously can be played. During the power outage I also received the email receipt for the game. Maybe it's possible that I only have the right for
the game after the receipt is delivered?
