Xbox one X doesn't recognize my monitor as 4K on HDMI2 port but on HDMI1 does.

    Hi!

    I have a Samsung Monitor UHD 4K 28" LU28R552UQUXEN and a Xbox One X.

I have tried plugging my Xbox One X into the HDMI2 port of the monitor and it doesn't recognize it as a 4K monitor; on the console there is only the option of a 640x480 resolution and there is no way to change it to 4K.

However, if I connect the Xbox to the HDMI1 port it does recognize it as a 4K monitor.

With the computer with Windows 10 something similar happens: on the HDMI1 port the resolution 3840x2160 appears by default and a scaling of 150% as recommended. However, in the HDMI2 port, in Windows 10 the resolution 3840x2160 appears by default and a scaling of 100% as recommended.

Is it correct that the Xbox One X console does not recognize the monitor as a 4K monitor on the HDMI2 port? Thanks.

    :)

I have taken these screenshots on Windows to show the different between HDMI1 and HDMI2 port. My Windows is in Spanish but you will see the different: on port HDMI1, Windows detects my monitor LU28R55, but on HDMI2 it doesn't.

I don't see anything to suggest that that monitor has 2 different HDMI ports (ie one 4k and one not). It could simply be a faulty port which is more pronounced with the XBox than the PC....something doesn't seem right as both ports should show up as the same recommended on the PC.

I would say that I used to occasionally turn on my One X and find it was displaying 640x480 resolution with no option to change to 4k (on my 4k TV)....that, however, was simply resolved by unplugging and reinserting the HDMI lead.

    Thanks for your answer!

I think it is a faulty HDMI port, if so it will be the second monitor that I have to return. I have asked Samsung about my problem and I will share their answer with you here.

Xbox one X doesn't recognize my monitor as 4K on HDMI2 port but on HDMI1 does.

    No problem

I have been looking further into this and, as far as I can tell, both HDMI ports are 2.0 (though someone from Samsung Electronics on Amazon posted that one was 1.4 and one 2.0..but then they also posted that both were 2.0 on a different question!!) so there should be no difference.

It is odd that the Xbox flatly refuses whilst the PC only has a slight issue with it...though this could simply be because an Xbox is more sensitive to ports and can't cope with a slightly malfunctioning port whereas a PC can work around it more

I will add that whilst it sounds like a faulty port to me, that doesn't necessarily mean it is...whilst I have a good amount of knowledge regarding desktop hardware etc, my knowledge on monitors, ports etc is not as good

    Xbox one X 120 HZ using 1440P

I have double check everything, the specs are right, the hdmi2 port is slot hdmi1. I have tryed the Xbox one x cable that came with the monitor, I just can't figure out why, before I return this monitor and buy a new one I want to figure out why this isn't
working because the specs says it should work.
