Xbox one x disk problem

Hi,

I recently moved house and although I used the original packing I may have a disk problem on my Xbox one x. Following the move I tried to play a game and it failed to start. I reinstalled several times and all seemed ok no errors but the game failed to start. I tried moving it to an external drive but that ‘stopped’. I did not see any error codes. As a last resort I uninstalled but reinstalled directly to the external drive and the games plays fine. Other games on the internal drive seem to run fine.

Is there a way to reformat/reset so the disk manager ignores any bad sectors or should just install a new drive.

It seems to be a common problem with certain 4K UHD Blue Ray disks on the Xbox One and Series X.

My Xbox One X refuses to play certain 4K UHD Blue Ray disks as well and I know it's not the disks that's causing the problem as they play on my stand alone 4K Blue Ray player.

Hello Ezra,

the disk is not the problem. The surface of the disk looks like new. On my other Xbox One X the installation with the same disk wasn‘t a problem.

What do you think about the error codes?

Thanks for the clear and precise response.

Before I started I tried and moved a couple other games and they ‘stopped’ as well.

I went for the full reset which went ok, I will see what happens over the next few weeks. I may bite the bullet and install a new drive.

Hello Kursaalflyer, Xbox has two types of reset, one keeps games and Apps and the other erases everything and leaves the console as if it came from the factory.

Xbox One reset keeping Games:

Press the Xbox button to open the panel.

Select system > Settings > System > Console Information

Select Reset console.

Restore and maintain my games and apps.

Rest assured, you won't miss games or saves

Note - You need to know the email and passwords of your accounts when performing this reset.

You can choose the option that erases everything, with this it will install the operating system again and will detect if there is any error, the two resets should be done with it connected to the Internet preferably by network cable.
