ok so bought my xbox one X at launch , have a big digital libratry dont really play physical, ended up buying a couple of games in the sale a month or so back n though they worked fine to start with, at one point it wouldnt recognize them, i did a hard
reset and thought it might be a memory issue or just a system crash or something, didnt think much about it.

anyways not really bothered with disc based games since, bought a couple of games for my son at xmas, and got him his own console, but thought id install them on mine so he can play there too or we can play together etc.

popped a disc in, nothing happened, reset my console, hard reset the console, factory reset the console. nothing.

unplugged everything left it off for 10 minutes, poped the discs back in, both installed and played fine, gone to play them again today, nothing same issue, the loading mechanism works , but they dont spin, to get the m to work, i have t unplug the xbox
wait 5 minutes , load everythign back upm then insert the disc and it will work, if i change game, i have to go through the process again.

contacted support and they said i could send the conole for replacement but they want £400 holding fee, or they would repair it for free but could take upto 2 months, for a console thats only about 2 months old i dont really want a repair.

anyways has anyone else come across this issue and found a solution, iv scoured forums hoping it would be software related or known about but it doesnt seem to be the case .

    :)

Disc drives malfunctioning in Xbox One units

I just read an article that says Microsoft is acknowledging faulty disc drives in some Xbox One units. Some people are having a problem with the drive making a grinding noise and not reading the disc, so if you have this problem, you're not alone!

Hi, Sorry about your issue there.

So that we can see if this is a hardware issue or not. Can you please check how you have the console connected to the power. Is it plugged straight in to the mains or via a power strip/adaptor? If it's the former, we have a hardware failure (I will get to
this in a moment). If it's the latter, can you please try another plug or power adaptor. The console can have issues if there is an fault with the mains/power strip or it contains a surge protector.

If this does not work then it would appear your console has a faulty drive unit.

If you are still having issues, the best option would be to return your console. The repair is free. The holding fee is the faster service. Once you submit your repair using this service, Microsoft send you a replacement console. The money is held as a
pending payment so that you return your faulty console. When Microsoft receive your faulty console, the the fee is no longer held and the funds are returned to the bank account or credit card you gave them.

If your console is the standard Xbox One X and not the 'Scorpio Edition' it would be best to return it to the store, as they should replace it. If you purchased your console via the UK Microsoft Store though, you'll have to go through Microsoft Support.

    Good luck!

  5. its directly to the mains, its deffo a drive error, iv tried every fix there is , i agree with the hold to an extent . like you have X amount of days to return the console or we will charge you, the fact it takes the money out of your bank is something
i cant see many agreeing to, im a single parent on a not so great wage, and taking 400 out my bank would leave me in a lot of trouble, bills need paying, even tho i know the money would be returned, in that period its money i cannot afford to have locked out
of my account, im chasing up returning but i ordered online and i dont see it being a quick fix.

Cross Gen MODERN WARFARE 2 DISC NOT READING

It actually does. I got the Series X this holiday at $349, and the same disc is working perfectly. I have determined that the Xbox One X disc drive is trying to read Cross Gen discs differently than Xbox One discs. The disc drive on the Series X doesn’t have this issue. You might need a new disc or you might need to send your Series X for maintenance.

    Xbox One Series S - I'm confused

You have names mixed up. There are no consoles named the Xbox One Series S or Xbox One Series X.

The Xbox One/One S/One X all have a disc drive.

The Xbox One S All Digital Edition does not have a disc drive.

The Xbox Series X has a disc drive.

The Xbox Series S does not have a disc drive.

All the consoles can play backward compatible games. The Series S and One S all digital edition can only play games digitally downloaded.

The other consoles can play games from disc and from digitally downloaded,

I hope this clears things up for you.

    Xbox one disc drive

I have an Original Xbox one, the first model before the one s and one x. This affects my gaming as I think the problem is my disc drive. My xbox wont take or eject discs when I press the eject button, so I cant play games due to this problem

series x has disc drive and the series s does not

smart delivery is so it downloads the content for the specific console

hence why the game case has series x and xbox one advertised on it. the disc can be used in series x and xbox one consoles, the series s does not have a drive therefore requires digital purchase.
