Xbox one x controlling apple tv4k as a set top box

Hello everyone! A couple of months back I have decided to ditch our fiber tv provider's box (in Sweden) and replaced it with an Apple TV4k and route it, just as the box before, through the xbox HDMI input. This worked quite well, especially after programming
the Apple device to receive commands from the xbox media remote. The only annoyance was when pressing the left arrow on the remote also triggered the xbox to slide in the left hand menu occasionally.

Recently I upgraded to an xbox x and went through the setup again and discovered that it was actually possible to select the Apple TV as a device. This was exactly what I hoped for, as the functionality should be easy to implement and quite useful as Apple
TV has a considerable market share. Unfortunately, I could not see any change in behavior: I had to program the apple device to listen to the xbox remote so I could use only one remote for the entire setup.

I have been using the xbox as a media center for many years now and I think it is a brilliant solution and lot of effort has been put into it (OneGuide for example) maybe not even receiving the "love" deserved.

My question is whether there are any plans to add full support for the Apple TV to the list of controlled devices?

Hi,

I would say not really worth it anyway. The Xbox One may have good media playback abilities but its HDMI pass-through is only 1080P, even on the One X. Which means any content in 4K with or without HDR will only play in HD with SDR colour.

If you mean whether I've tried the device control with other devices, than yes. Both my previous set top box and AV equipment and there is extensive support for many other devices. What surprised me was that when I entered during device control setup the
make as apple, in the next stage I was offered a list containing several apple TV devices including the 4K that I have.
