Xbox One X Controllers no sound with headset connected to them

So recently my son had to switch to using a headset connected to his controllers for sound with his new Xbox one X but now sound will not work on either of them when a headset is connected to either controller. The headset in question works fine on everything
else it is connected to and is an Xbox supported headset. Have even tried other ear buds and headsets to the controllers and none work.

None of the settings on the xbox have been changed and checked that sound settings are on. I've checked the software on the controllers and they are up to date. I've blown out the controller holes with compressed air about a million times.

Is there anything else to try? Or are the controllers broken defective? And if I have to send in for warranty do I have to send both at the same time rendering the xbox unusable or can I send in 1 at a time or can 1 or 2 replacements be sent?

So I've been trying to get replacement controllers but the system keeps rejecting saying that support isn't available. is there an easier way to get this done. It's very frustrating for my son and others to play without sound because the sound jacks
on the remotes are not working. And spending $120 for 2 brand new remotes is out of the question I just got this 5 months ago.

If the problem persists:

Try your Headset on another controller, if you can.If the headset works on the second controller, try
updating the first controlleragain.
If that fails, the controller will need to be replaced.
To order a replacement, go to the
Xbox Online Service Center or contact
Customer Support .

You'll ideally want a headset that connects with a 3.5mm audio jack, that way you can simply plug it into your controller.

I`ve just been out and bought a Turtle Beach Recon 50X headset for my One X. Like the way all connections are in one jack plug connected to the controller, no cables across the floor to stand on.

And it is a great headset for the price, nice clear sound and very comfortable to wear.

Would definitely recommend them to anyone who doesn`t want to spend a small fortune.
