Xbox One X controller not updating to firmware 3.1.1221.0?

Hi everyone, i've recently bought an Xbox One X. And all was going well, i have the controller with the 3.5mm jack. Anyway, i was playing Forza Motorsport 7, and suddenly the sound cut out from my headset (I had plugged my headset into my controller)

And to my surprise there was a firmware update available. I was excited and decided to download it. But i couldn't. I plugged my controller into my xbox via a micro usb cable (which clearly works because the controller is charging). And when i wanted to
click on "Proceed" on the firmware update, it just didn't do anything.

I hope someone can help me out. I've also tried swapping batteries. And put new ones in fully charged, which didn't help. I'll send a picture:

The batteries of your controller are almost empty. Replace the batteries or connect your controller with a USB cable (Which i did)

Try doing a Full shutdown of the console and restart it with the controller connected with the uSB cable and run the update again.

Setting up a headset adapter helps if the 3.5mm socket is faulty and also
Update your controller firmware are two support links for further steps to take.

Hi there

According to the xbox and plugging them into my pc the firmware is all up to date.

the slim controller has firmware 3.1.1221.0

and the older xbox controller has firmware 2.3.2385.0

I unplugged and replugged from the home screen, but still no luck. Checking firmware again lists as up-to-date "No updates needed. Your controller is already up to date" (3.1.1221.0).

Still no detection of the headset.

Thank you for keeping us updated in regards to the controller feeling warm with batteries inserted. If you successfully

updated your controller and are experiencing issues, try the following steps:

Sign in to Xbox Live on your Xbox One console and install the latest system update if prompted to do so.
Press the
Xbox button to open the guide.
Select
System > Kinect & devices > Devices & accessories, and then select the controller you want to update.
Reconnect your USB cable, and make sure it’s firmly connected to the console’s USB port and the controller’s
USB port. To recover the controller, wait about a minute for the controller to properly sync with the console.
Select
..., select the Firmware version box, and then select
Continue.
