Xbox One X Controller Drift Issue

Hi, we purchased the Xbox One X about 10 months ago, and recently I’ve noticed that the xbox controller that came with the Xbox One X has this “drifting” issue where it moves (from what I’ve noticed it moves in an upwards direction) without me even touching
it). I believe I’ve actually had the issue for a few months, but I just overlooked it and didn’t think much of the casual, “whoops I must’ve held it in that direction too long” until the past few days. I’ve done some testing, such as turning on the xbox, going
to a selection screen, and not touching the controller at all. In every test I did, within approximately 30 seconds it began to move upwards on the screen. Also, I have seperate white xbox one controller and it doesn’t have the same issue (I did the same tests
on it). I’m not sure what to do at this point... I don’t want to void the warranty by attempting to take apart the controller, though besides that, I’m not sure if there’s any “easy” fixes. Now, speaking of warranty, I checked the controller warranty on the
microsoft website and it says that the warranty has expired (I’m in the US), but the thing is, the controller came with the Xbox One X which does have a manufacturers warranty that is available up to a year after the purchase date and is still available currently.
I’m not sure what to do, so that’s why I’m here. Hope there’s a solution! And thank you if I can get help.

console connected to surge protector (Isobar), but did try just to wall outlet. Seagate game dive 8TB was attached, detaching made no difference. Did soft reset, controller hard wired. St.ill have drift on Xbox one x but not on day one Xbox one. Used two
new controllers, one Elite and 3 used, all drift on left stick on Xbox one X.

Not quite understanding what you mean by centerpoint. Is the controller drifting up? For steps on drifting controllers, check out our

Xbox One Controller Troubleshooter. Unfortunately for drifting issues, the controller would need to be repaired or replaced depending on your warranty status.

It's possible that there's some debris that got under the stick. If this is the issue take a q-tip and a put a bit of rubbing alcohol on it and wipe it around the base of the stick and move the sick stick around. Do this a few times and it should clear
the gunk out. If this doesn't do it then the actual stick or the board that controls it may be bad. You can tear apart the controller and fix it relatively cheap if you're comfortable with that sort of thing...otherwise it may be time for a new controller
if it's out of warranty. If it's still under warranty don't hear it apart and set up a repair on it.

Easiest option is to just buy a new controller. Even if you fix your current one the problem will come back, well it did for me anyways so now i just use the old controllers as spares and for charging up other batteries.

First of all,

1. Make sure your console and controller have the latest firmware/update. Me and my friends had an issue with controller sensitivity being far too sensitive, but Microsoft fixed and patched this problem up in their last update. I think because one of my
friends parents contacted Microsoft New Zealand regarding the issue.

2. Buy new batteries and make sure there's no obsessive dust or any grease on the controller.

3. Trying pairing you controller to your console again, and try a wired connection between your controller and your console.

.... Otherwise it could just be your controller. I wouldn't suggest you trying to open up your controller, as Microsoft is very strict with customers tampering with their hardware.
