Xbox One X Controller Double Input on Windows 10

I didn't notice this until I player MHR, but sometimes when I press the button A, it appears like I pressed it twice. Like, the game responds like I tapped the button A 2 times really fast when I literally pressed it once. This makes it annoying, as navigating throught menus is hard since sometimes and randomly I will skip throughout sections of said menus because it registered like I pressed the button twice. I think it's a software problem since the controller is 1 or 2 months old. Any advice to resolve this?

Hello. Firstly I don't use a wireless controller. I use a wired one that it's always connected via USB to the PC. Secondly the "Accesories app" is what I first installed when I bought this controller, so it's updated. I have been researching and it seems to be a hardware problem that it's common in this controller. I found a solution in Steam by addind "end delay on button press" to the A button so it's ok now, but please if you're gonna release a controller at least do it well. I paid 70€ for this and I didn't like that this happened.

OK, just saw here. And it´s a huge BS.

Windows 10 games now don´t support d-input controllers, only x-input.

Ridiculously disapointed with uncle Bill in this one.

You need to upgrade to Windows 10 for full support of Xbox controllers. Win 7 inly suppirts via USB

X input is required to use them

Im not sure what will slow down your PC, as it’s a part of Windows.

Thanks for the follow-up, and thanks for confirming it's a wired connection. That rules out a few wireless-specific quirks. Since you've already gone deep into drivers and Steam settings, here are a few less obvious but still effective angles worth trying:

1. Check for “HID-compliant game controller” Conflicts

Sometimes your controller gets registered twice, once as an Xbox device, and once under generic HID (Human Interface Device), causing double input.

> Open Device Manager

> Expand both:

* Human Interface Devices

* Sound, video and game controllers

If you see both:

> Xbox Controller for Windows and

> HID-compliant game controller

try disabling (not uninstalling) the HID one.

This stops Windows from interpreting the same device through two drivers.

2. Fully Clean Up Old Xbox Controller Drivers

Even uninstalling sometimes leaves registry traces that can re-cause the issue. Try using the Windows Device Cleanup Tool (free utility by Uwe Sieber):

> Download from https://www.uwe-sieber.de/misc_tools_e.html

> Run as admin

> Remove all old or duplicate Xbox or HID controller entries

> Reboot, plug the controller back in

3. Disable “Enhanced Power Management” (for USB Controllers)

This can cause the USB controller to reset or misbehave.

> Open Registry Editor (regedit)

> Navigate to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\USB\VID_xxxx&PID_xxxx

> Replace xxxx with the VID and PID of your controller (can find in Device Manager under “Details” tab > Hardware IDs)

> Look for a key called Device Parameters

> Add a new DWORD (32-bit) value named:

EnhancedPowerManagementEnabled

Set it to 0

Restart your PC.
