    Hi. My Xbox oneX has started shutting itself down randomly. Sometimes I get as much as 20 minutes before it shuts down, usually only about 1 minute.

    The console is not getting hot, the fan kicks in and it is very well ventilated. I have been through all the suggested routes of power supply resets, reset with saved games and have even done a full factory reset as a last resort but still it keeps shutting
    down.

    I have even opened the console up, stripped it down and cleared all traces of dust with an air canister, and yes I was static protected.

    Call me a sceptic if you wish but the first time it randomly shut down was immediately after I watched the SeriesX teaser on the xbox site, coincidence?

    any ideas?

    If your One X is completely shutting off, then I’ve had this happen to me a few times. If this is what’s happening to you, then it’s a bug in CoD (also happens in Borderlands 3 sometimes). I think it makes the One X think it is overheating. This causes the
    console to shut down. Just check to make sure the console isn’t too hot and reboot.

    The extra fans might be blowing the hot air back into the console, thus the sensors pick up the heat and shuts down the console.

    May i suggest you remove the extra fans to see if there is any change in the issue.

    In short the xbox one x generates more heat than the xbox one s and earlier due to increased performance.

    Allow the system to breath, and unless it is shutting down due to overheating it should be fine. There is no "specific" temperature as you can be taxing the console differently based upon what you may be playing vs if the console is just sitting idle
    on the home screen, etc.

    Strange indeed. Perform a power cycle of the console and see if that clears it. Hold power down for 10 seconds while the console shuts down. Then unplug power from outlet and wait 5 minutes. After that plug back in and reboot.
