Xbox One X constantly crashing 5-30 minutes into gameplay

I used to play a lot of BDO when the game first came out but stopped playing after I could only play for a maximum of an hour. Now I'm trying to play CoD and it is doing the same thing. I'm at a loss at this point because I know that they both use a lot
of memory to play but I was also under the assumption that the One X was supposed to be the highest performing console on the market at this point. I have friends with the OG Xbox Ones an Xbox One S's that have no issue playing either for context.

Hey I have tried clearing the game cache, local Xbox 360 Storage, uninstalling and reinstalling, hard resetting, factory resetting, and cleaning out the inside of the system. So far nothing has shown even the slightest
performance upgrade. I am using an external storage device have uninstalled from it unplugged it and reinstalled onto the internal storage. My assumption at this point is an issue with the RAM.

Sorry to hear that you're having problems with your Xbox One crashing. Have you tried a hard reset on your console? You can do that by following these steps:

Holding the power button down for 10 seconds while the system is on will perform a hard reset.
The Xbox One Will Switch Off.
Power on the Xbox One again. You’ll see a green start-up screen.
All your data is preserved, but the cache will be cleared and settings may reset.

so for my understanding both games are crashing after a while?

If you mean that the console just shuts down then please see these steps to try:

If you are using an external storage device then also try moving the games to the internal storage to see if that makes any difference.

I don't have an Xbox One, but I have seen a few videos on the DVR feature. You can record up to 5 minutes of gameplay, but if you say "Xbox record that" it will record the last 30 seconds of gameplay
