Xbox One X console: Minecraft from disc will not allow guest account to play

Hi

Our child has own Microsoft account as child account and in Xbox One X console.

She is logged in, and adds her friend, who does not have a Microsoft account a visitor. Visitor is displayed correctly as a copy of my childs account (1). We have 2 Xbox controllers.

For example in Xbox game pass offered free Lego Star Wars they are both able to play with their own characters, no issues.

However, we have Minecraft Xbox One edition from disc. This one works if my daughter is playing alone. When she tries to play with her friend as visitor account, Minecraft does not recognize the visitor account. It shows only the real Microsoft accounts
added to Xbox console, but does not even display the visitor account as an option.

Would you please help? I cannot create Microsoft account for someone else's child, that would not be ethical. How can we set up the visitor account so that they can play together Minecraft on the console?

You can create an account that will be used only for visitors at your home. One that you can control.

Thanks. However the visitors are kids (for the moment 8 year olds), so this would need to be an age restricted account.

Would I need to create this as a family account, and then pay for it as I needed to do for my child's account?

Also, I would like to understand why all other games are accepting the Xbox One X functinality of temporary visitor accounts, but Minecraft does not. Is there a bug in Minecraft Xbox One disc version?

You also have the option to setup a Guest Account or Keys on your xbox.

When you have a guest who wants to play side-by-side multiplayer games but doesn’t have an Xbox Live account or gamertag, you can create a guest account on your Xbox One console for one-time use. This temporary
account is created as a copy of the account of the person who’s currently signed in to the console.

At the end of the session, when the person whose account was used to create the guest account signs out, the guest account is also signed out and removed from the console.

Note A guest account is different from a guest key. A temporary guest account can only be created while you’re signed in and is deleted as soon as you or your guest signs out. A guest key is
a reusable passcode that allows guests to use your console without requiring you to be signed in.

Maybe that can be a legal workaround for your situation.

as the series s does not have a disc drive then no you cannot play any disc games, they will not allow the digital versions.

you can have guest account on xbox so you can play with friends when they come over.
