Xbox One X Connection Issues

I just bought a new Xbox One X yesterday and was obviously very excited about it. However, shortly after setting it up, I soon encountered a MAJOR issue. I keep getting disconnected from my wi-fi. I am able to play online anywhere from 20 minutes to two
hours without interruption, but it inevitably disconnects at some point.

Of course, I've searched the internet in search for a solution to this problem and have found that this issue is apparently common (how?!) and unfortunately for me, doesn't seem to have a reliable fix. I've tried doing a hard reset and other suggestions
but to no avail. Because of my living situation, an Ethernet cable isn't really an option either (not that it seems to help others anyway).

Obviously, I am quite upset about this, thinking that for the amount of money I've spent, I should AT LEAST be able to have a reliable internet connection on this console. I'm hoping that somebody on this forum can other any different solution to this problem,
otherwise, I really don't know what I'm going to do.

Xbox One X Connection issues

Go to your Xbox network settings. What does your "NAT Type" show?

Also try running the tests on the right side of the screen (Test network connection, Test multiplayer connection, Test NAT Type, Detailed network statistics), and see if those tests show any problems with your network.

Hi, I don’t know if anyone can help or has maybe experienced the same problem as me?

I have just traded in my old Xbox one console towards the One X. Got it home set it all up and everything seemed to be fine but I’ve had issues connecting my console to the internet through an Ethernet connection.

The WiFi seems to work fine and connects without an issue. The console itself is amazing and I’m enjoying all new enhanced games and 4K features but I’m just concerned as to whether or not my console is faulty due to the Ethernet issues I’m having?

It shows up that I have a wired connection in the setting page and briefly connects before disconnecting and this continues over and over. Nothing I seem to do fixes the issue, I’ve reset my router tried a different cable but still have the issue yet WiFi
works fine?

It may not seem like a big deal as the console is working as it should in every other way but with it being a brand new console I just don’t want to ignore what could be a simple fix or a hardware fault?

Hey Nosnitram thanks for taking the time to bring this issue to us!

We understand how frustrating this all is and we do have some troubleshooting to get this squared away. First things first, we suggest clearing out the Network Card Cache since there might be some leftover information from the initial setup. To clear the
alternate MAC address follow these steps:

Settings

Network

Network Settings

Advanced Settings

Alternate MAC Address

Clear and Restart

Give it a shot and let us know how it goes so we can get the console back up and running!

 

I feel your frustration, as I am having the same issue with my new Xbox One X. Other than this ongoing, frustrating problem I am very happy with the X.

 

I will also try this and see if it resolves the issue. Will report back in a few days.

 

Hello, sorry for the late reply. I wasn't able to use my Xbox One X yesterday, but the day before it, I tried what you said and cleared the alternate MAC address. I played for a few hours that night and only experienced one crash (which might not have
been on my end). However, After starting my Xbox up this evening, I have already experiences four connection timeouts in around two hours of playtime. I've already tried doing a hard reset, to no avail. If it helps, the connection issues happened while playing
Fortnite and with other games downloading in the background. Again, I would very much like a solution to this problem, Thanks.

 

Same here! it's a great console but if this issue persists, it's a deal breaker for me. What games have you been playing where you've experienced crashes?

 

Fortunately, I haven't been in the middle of any games yet during it disconnecting. It's randomly disconnected when I've been browsing the Microsoft Store, been on the Dashboard and/or been downloading games. Yesterday it didn't disconnect at all (this is
after I cleared the alternate MAC address). Question: when it disconnects on you do you have to restart/reboot the console to get it to connect again? I'm wondering if our issues are identical in happenings or if there
are some differences.

 

It seems that we are experiencing different issues. I mostly disconnect while playing a game, but am able to reconnect fairly quickly by just selecting my network and typing in its password again in the settings. In any case, I hope you find a solution!

Since you bought it recently you have 30 days at the store to change it for another one to see if the next one is not a faulty one...

 

I cannot connect my X to the router via wifi and the wired connection needs to be restarted up to 5 times

 

do you check if you have xbox live ports open on your router??
