    Xbox One X: Can’t open Settings and can’t Factory Reset


    I can’t install or update apps anymore. The “Microsoft Store” app has been stuck trying to update for a couple days. It gets to about 80% and then says “Installation Stopped”. This has been happening with any app I try to install or update.

    It’s not a harddrive space issue because I have 646 GB free.

    I tried doing a hard reset by holding in the power button for 10 seconds and then unplugging the console for 30 seconds before turning it back on.

    I tried doing a Factory Reset from the console, but when I try to open Settings, I get an error message screen saying “You need to install the game or app for this.” The error code is 0x80270254. When I click “report a problem”, it just closes the window and
    takes me to the home screen.

    I tried doing a Factory Reset from a USB drive. I downloaded and extracted the reset zip contents to the root of an NTFS-formatted USB drive and followed the instructions: I shut down the console, unplugged it for 30 seconds, plugged in the USB drive, pressed
    and held the eject and pair buttons, and then pressed the power button (while still holding the eject and pair buttons for at least 15 seconds). The console just booted normally ingoring the USB drive.

    I’ve tried using different profiles.

    At this point I’ve tried all recommended troubleshooting steps that I could find online. I don’t know what else to do.

    That fact that I can’t even open Settings is particularly concerning. Seems like an OS issue. But again, I couldn’t even do a factory reset via USB

    You need set your xbox one in Safe mode menu you can find it here

    Since you having problem with Sofware of xbox, The only way to fix it through safe mode menu and from there you can find the problem an much more. Id suggest reinstall lastest update from xbox website and try agian.

    If this does not work you might need contact xbox support and create service repair case.

    I can’t get to factory reset options because I can’t navigate the xbox one x dashbord menus. As I mentioned above.

    I tried unplugging the console and left it unplugged for 5 minutes and it immediately started scrolling right when i turned it on.

    I have done each of those steps several times. One month after the warranty ended this happened. Am I hearing that since I can’t do the offline update and I can’t even factory reset my Xbox I have to pay $250 to get it factory reset?
