Xbox One X can use 4k on a monitor and Xbox Series X will not

    Hi,

my Xbox One X console can use and does recognize a monitor I use as 4k capable on 60hz, but my Xbox Series X console will not recognize it as 4k 60Hz. I tested this with both console using the same monitor, HDMI port and HDMI cable.

The Xbox Series X will show 4k UHD as option, but when selecting it will show the 20s screen, but when accepting it will revert back to the previous setting, when looking at 4k details it doesn't show it supports 4k 60Hz but only 4k 24Hz.

    I'm using a iiyama GOLD PHOENIX ™ G-MASTERGB2888UHSU-B1 monitor

Both consoles are participating in Alpha Skip-Ahead and on the latest update

Monitor for my Xbox one X

    Hello,

Sorry for my language, (google translate).

I'm looking for a monitor for my Xbox one X, ...

My question is, is it worth buying a monitor at more than 60HZ in 4k ???

Does Xbox One x accept more than 60 Hz ???

    Thank you for your answers.
It is worth buying a 4K 144hz monitor for Xbox Series X, However you need to make sure the monitor has HDMI 2.1,

"Does Xbox One X accept more than 60hz ?"

    At 4K , No,

Xbox One X uses HDMI 2.0 and HDMI 2.0 bandwidth can only do 4K at 60hz,

HDMI 2.1 of the Xbox Series X will allow it to go to 4K at 120hz, but only if you have a TV or monitor with HDMI 2.1, and a refresh rate of 120hz or higher.

    Xbox one x

You can play the Xbox One X on non 4K TV / Monitors,

However in my opinion, if you have no intentions of upgrading to 4K, its a waste of money to buy hardware that's capable of 4K gaming to not be gaming at 4K, even more so with the Xbox Series X arriving later this year,

The same can be said for those who buy an RTX 2080 Ti's ( a 4K, £1000+ ) card to only use it on 1080p Monitors for PC gaming,

I myself, if i didn't have a 4K TV and 4K Monitor, i would've just stayed with an Xbox One or at most a Xbox One S.

    The upcoming X-Box Series X

Yes, I currently own an X Box One X

When does the new X Box series X release this year?

    Will it have blue-ray?

    I have a 65 inch, 4K television.

Will I see a difference in graphics with the new X Box on my 4K?
Xbox Series X will release Holiday 2020, given Xbox's track record of releasing new consoles, they've usually been around November.

    It will have Blu-Ray.

With the Xbox One X, it uses checkerboarding to get 4K resolution, though it's not true 4K, it's what allows the One X to get to 4K,

With the Xbox Series X, it will use true native 4K, you may see that the Series X will look a little better at 4K than the One X at 4K.

Xbox one S gaming monitor compatibility

Most modern Monitors will work fine on the Xbox One S. Be aware though that while the One S supports 4K, it doesn't play games in 4K. Games on the One S are in 1080P (or lower and then upscaled).

Are you planning on upgrading to a Series X? If so, you should look at these.
