Xbox One X Buzzing Sound/Coil Whine

Hey,

I've had a xbox one x scorpio edition for a few months now, multiple times i've sent it back to microsoft for a replacement and/or "repair", however it still has the same issue. When in any game it makes this really audible buzzing sound, which i assume
to be coil whine, however others online say there console is silent as a whisper so I'm starting to think otherwise. The fan also fluctuates in games; increases and decreases rapidly, also audible.

I've sent and received a total of 5 consoles, this is ridiculous and I've stopped using the xbox altogether because it's way too annoying and on top of that my 2013 xbox one with that noisy power supply is still MUCH quieter than this new one.

If anyone else has similar issues, and/or have fixed the problem please reply to this. I've done every possible troubleshooting; power cycle, clear cache, etc. If someone from microsoft reads this please help to solve this problem or at least to understand
whether or not this is a common problem amongst all the consoles, which i doubt as there would be more people creating forums.

coil whine with latest update

The latest system update from 8/5/2016 has introduced coil whine to my xbox one. Coil whine is a buzzing sound that can be heard from across the room, but only when the system is idle, for example at the home screen. It goes away when the system is being
stressed, for example playing a game. It is also present in instant on mode. This coil whine was not there before the update. From what I have read an update long ago fixed coil whine for many. This most recent update has reintroduced it.

Your description of when the sound occurs makes it sound like it is likely fan noise. If your games are playing without issue, and the sound is not bothersome, then it should be fine.

Personally, my Xbox One X: Scorpio Edition is generally quiet. However, I do occasionally hear a winding/chirping noise. More than likely it's the hard drive reading.

As for the fan fluctuations. Generally I hear this when playing a game that's graphically intense.

I tend to hear (notice) a lot of noise of a higher frequency than most people. It could be that we're the same in that aspect.

 

Please let us know on the outcome, I would like to know what was wrong.

 

Just curious as to how you have had the Scorpio edition for a only a few months, when it was a limited pre-order from almost a year ago?

Sorry to hear what's going on with the console.

If you've already had it sent out a couple of times and they are not repairing the issue, I would try to request a callback here
Contact Us | Xbox Support and see if you are eligible for any "exchange" order rather than a "repair".

If you are in warranty, you might want to call a Microsoft Store in the area and see if they can verify that and perhaps exchange your console for one there.

It's felt like a few months but I've had it since the start of the year kinda of, I can't remember exactly (was around feb and march). However, I purchased it off eBay unopened, which is why i said a few months.
