Xbox one x burning smell

Just bought the Xbox one x a few days ago and been running it for a few hours a day. The console runs very good and smooth, but after about 30 minutes of gameplay I'll start to notice a strong burning smell that only goes away when I power off the Xbox one
x and unplug it for a few hours

My xbox has a burning smell. auto shut-off after one hour is on but even with it off, fan still runs and smell of burning plastic fills the house. How do I fix this?

Can you please check the console has
sufficient ventilation if the console does have sufficient ventilation then I would encourage you to use the
Contact Us option and when prompted either select Chat With Xbox Support or Request a phone call from support for assistance with this.

 

I just bought my second onex and noticed the same thing. Mine was running on 220v (I'm in Kuwait for work) and I used a transformer to step down to 110v and plugged it back in and the smell is gone. I would assume it is the xbox burning off something because
the 220 to 110 step down causes a ton of heat. I solved mine by doing it externally.

 

This shouldn't be happening. If you just bought it I would take it back to the store and exchange it, this is absolutely not normal and likely a power supply problem.
