xBox One X Blue-Ray player

I've recently had issues with the xBox blue-ray player frequently not playing DVDs, despite some being brand new and others, it has played perfectly previously.

I cleared the cache, did a reboot, tried a complete shutdown, followed by a shutdown + unplugging the power cable.

When that didn't work, I figured I'd try re-installing the blue-ray player itself. It uninstalled without issue, but will not re-install.

Searching for it on the store shows "installing {view in queue", but there's nothing in the queue.

I even tried installing it via my laptop (worked fine for installing games), but so far, nothing. Which means I've no way to play DVDs on my console.

Any suggestions please? (don't want to factory reset unless absolutely necessary)

It seems to be a common problem with certain 4K UHD Blue Ray disks on the Xbox One and Series X.

My Xbox One X refuses to play certain 4K UHD Blue Ray disks as well and I know it's not the disks that's causing the problem as they play on my stand alone 4K Blue Ray player.

The Xbox One S supports Blue Ray. Is there a reason you are looking to connect an external blue ray player?

I ended up doing that as I was a bit worried about the optical drive in my Xbox One x when it refused to play certain 4k Blue ray disks.

My old Xbox One X had issues with some UHD movies, so much so that I too bought a stand alone UHD Blue-ray player. Playback issues were (probably still are) common on the One X. I've never played a single Blu-ray, UHD Blu-ray or DVD in my Series X.

There really isn't any need to test all of the discs. Test a few. If the discs are in good clean order they would have played on another BD player.

I would like to watch Blue Ray DVD Discs, because there is no DVD Player in the console of X-Box One S.
