Xbox One X and Samsung UHD 4k Issues

Hi Folks, I just booted up the one x and I am trying to get it to connect to the tv in 4k. I adjusted the settings on the tv according to other posts I have seen, and have all green checks in the status box but still get a 'something went wrong' error when
i try and change the resolution to 4k.

What am I missing?

One X and tv question

So I just bought A 55 inch Samsung 4K tv, and I’m planning on getting a Xbox One X to play on it. After reading up on my Tv I found out that it has HDR 5 but the one x needs hdr 10. So my question is, can I still Game in 4K without having HDR? Or am I just
out of luck.

The LG UHD 4K TVs are really nice and capable of running 4K for the Xbox One X. They are a little more affordable compared to Samsung.

I have similar with my Xbox Series X. Any HDR mode is shown as not supported.

On my Xbox One X they are supported, using the same cable (tried a couple including the one with the xsx) and the same HDMI port.

I have a 2018 Samsung 4k uhd tv. This is not (directly) the 120Hz or VRR issue widely reported as a issue.

With my Xbox One X I personally prefer a Samsung TV. I got one at Wal Mart for $200. It was a 43 inch UHD 4K Smart TV. At first I was concerned with the size being too small but later I realized it's perfect! I recommend Samsung to anyone with a One X!

I can say that my Samsung 4K UHD needed to have 4k activated in the HDMI settings of the TV. Also not all HDMI ports on all 4K TV's are capable of 4K.

That is correct, my Xbox is hooked up to HDMI port 1, which is often the only 4K HDR port (according to the Xbox One X user manual).
