XBOX ONE X and external memory. Advice needed please

Thank you Brad, please do not think I am being thick, I am still not 100% sure wether I have understood you correctly. Three other people have kindly replied to me with their advice, which I am grateful for.

I understand that I will have to upload the discs on the new xbox one x. Anyway, now I know that all of my games are at nearly 2T on my older console and that is why I bought a 3T external HD to store them on.

How can I get the ones on my external HD to upload on to another HD? You see I thought it would not need another HD, as I thought they were all loaded on my live membership.

So basically, to keep all my games, I need to get another external HD, unless I am prepared to keep swapping them over. Which I am not, so I will order another, aslong as yountell me how to put the games on the older External HD on to the new one. Can
you please recommend a hard drive. The last one I bought was just over £100.

Thanks for coming to the forums with your questions. You can use the External hard drive on the new console also. Disk games will have to be reinstalled as they are not digital. If you don't want to keep swapping the external hard drive around we suggest
getting another external HD for the bedroom.

Personally what I do, any games I am not playing I uninstall them. With Xbox one all saves are saved to the cloud. Any game purchased digital is attached to your profile. For example: Played a game for 2 years I uninstalled it, year later went back to the
game and installed it. My characters were the same as when I stopped playing. For me its a good way for me to manage my storage due to I own a lot of digital games.

Hi, you can use the same external hard disk on your xbox one x.

For the games, you'll have to reinstall them with the disc.

Not a problem, I am more than happy to explain this to you. Once you get another external HD all you need to do is when signed in on your profile you will go to my games and apps (on home screen just go down one). Once there, you will go to ready to install
this shows you all your digital games, you can then choose which games you want to install. You will choose where you want to install to internal or external HD. This is the easiest way to install them all again. As for disk games once you have the external
HD just put the disk in and install to the external HD.

You can move the the external hard drive between the 2 consoles, but if you don't want to keep swapping them then you would want another hard drive for the 2nd console.

As far as the discs, you would either need to reinstall them on the new console or use the hard drive from the other console that probably already has the installs.
